Dortmund vs. Real Madrid Picks, Parlay

Leg 1: Both Teams To Score & Over 2.5 Goals
Leg 2: Borussia Dortmund: Under 10.5 Shots
Leg 3: Borussia Dortmund Asian Handicap +1

Real Madrid has one of the most formidable front lines in world football and will be able to find space behind Dortmund’s high defensive line. Xabi Alonso’s side created five big chances and had a total of 21 shots in their first match of the knockout stages against Juventus.

Dortmund also has the quality to hurt Madrid. The pace of Serhou Guirassy and Karim Adeyemi could cause real problems for Real’s defense. BVB has scored a goal with every 6.375 shots at the Club World Cup.

There have also been plenty of goals in the recent meetings between these sides, with seven in their most recent encounter. Both teams have scored in five of the last six head-to-heads. Over that period, there has been an average of 4.33 goals per game, making over 2.5 look very doable.

Still, when Real Madrid and Dortmund squared off in the Champions League back in October, BVB finished the game with just eight attempts.

Niko Kovac’s side will undoubtedly carry a threat and will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet. However, the shot line offered by the bookmakers looks a little high, given that Dortmund failed to reach the 11-shot mark against Monterrey, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Fluminense.

Bookmakers' confidence in Borussia Dortmund has grown over the past 24 hours. Odds on Dortmund in the Asian Handicap +1 market were offered at 1.86 (-116), meaning that if they lose by just a one-goal margin, bettors would recoup their stakes.

This appears to be an enticing option, given that Dortmund are unbeaten in their last 11 matches and, under the guidance of Nico Kovac, have only suffered three defeats by more than a one-goal margin.

Dortmund vs. Real Madrid Betting Analysis

Real Madrid deserves its favorite tag heading into the clash with Dortmund. They were excellent against Juventus and have gotten the better of BVB in recent times. Therefore, we should expect Real to be in the ascendancy for the majority of this game.

Los Blancos have employed the back three system that Xabi Alonso used at Bayer Leverkusen in their last two matches, and this has seemingly brought out the best in the group.

Federico Valverde has been one of the standout performers. The midfielder has been involved in all facets of the game. He also poses a significant goal threat, netting twice and taking a total of 14 attempts at this tournament. The Uruguayan will be a busy man against Dortmund.

Kylian Mbappe could also be in line to start this game. The maverick Frenchman had been sidelined with illness but played over 20 minutes off the bench against Juventus. His pace could cause problems for Dortmund’s high defensive line.

Dortmund are accustomed to controlling possession in the Bundesliga, but that hasn’t always been the case since they landed in the USA for this tournament. Despite being the underdogs, Monterrey kept 58% of the ball. Mamelodi Sundowns also managed 59% possession against BVB.

Although Dortmund haven’t been at their brilliant best, Niko Kovac will have confidence in his system. He made the switch to a 3-4-2-1 shape following the international break in March. Since then, Barcelona has been the only team to beat them in 15 competitive matches. During that impressive run, BVB has scored an average of 2.62 goals per game.

Kovac’s men know this is a very tough test, but they can rely on their attackers to conjure up opportunities. We should see an open second half, with both teams capable of scoring.
