Storm vs. Sun Preview

I have a +1000 ticket on Flau'jae Johnson to win Rookie of the Year this season, so I'll be on her prop-wise early this season until we get a proper adjustment.

Johnson and the Storm won't have Ezi Magbegor, Awa Fam and Katie Lou Samuelson in the frontcourt to start the season, clearing the runway for the rookie LSU alum to have even more room to attack the lane, as seen in game one, though she was also 3-for-7 from deep.

And for opening night, Johnson had 12, over 10.5 points listed, on 3-of-12 shooting.

I've already come into the season expecting a sizeable amount of usage, given the developmental focus on Dominique Malonga and Fam all season and beyond, but the Storm doesn't have a high-usage guard on the roster. Johnson should get plenty of on-ball reps and opportunities to produce. She won't always be efficient, but I expect good volume, even early.

In the preseason, she had 12 points in 23 minutes on 10 shots against the Golden State Valkyries, and more notably, had 20 points in 19 minutes on 5-of-12 shooting against the Portland Fire. In both games, she was second in minutes and either first or tied for first in points and field goal attempts.

Best Bet: Flau'jae Johnson Points Over
