Midshipmen 2026 Schedule & Betting Odds
Navy Midshipmen Odds & Betting Guide — 2026-27 Season
Navy just finished one of the best two-year stretches in program history. The Midshipmen went 11-2 in 2025, finished 7-1 in the American Conference, closed the year ranked 23rd, and beat Cincinnati 35-13 in the Liberty Bowl. It's the first time in program history Navy has posted back-to-back double-digit win seasons, and Brian Newberry enters his fourth year as head coach off the back of it.
The one thing Navy hasn't done under Newberry is reach the American Conference Championship Game. The Midshipmen missed it again in 2025 despite the 7-1 conference mark, losing a tiebreaker to North Texas. Their lone American loss came on the road at North Texas, 31-17, and that rematch comes to Annapolis this season, giving Navy a built-in measuring stick and a chance at payback in the same season it's chasing a championship game bid it hasn't reached since 2016.
The offense loses its most important piece. Quarterback Blake Horvath, who ran Navy's attack for two seasons, has graduated, handing the job to senior Braxton Woodson. Woodson isn't a complete unknown: he made one spot start in 2025 when Horvath was injured, a 49-10 loss at Notre Dame, and rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown in the loss. Navy returns 11 starters overall, including four of five offensive linemen.
The bigger structural change is on defense. P.J. Volker, Navy's defensive coordinator for the last three seasons, is no longer with the program, and Newberry has restructured that side of the ball with Eric Lewis and Ricky Brown sharing defensive coordinator duties in their first season in those roles.
Navy & the American Conference
Navy plays in the same American Conference footprint it did a year ago. Unlike the Mountain West, MAC, Sun Belt or Pac-12, the American didn't lose or gain a single member in the 2026 realignment cycle, so the conference Navy is chasing a title in looks exactly like the one it just missed the championship game in.
What did change is who's steering some of Navy's rivals. Tulane, which beat North Texas for last year's American title and made the CFP before falling to Ole Miss, lost head coach Jon Sumrall to Florida in the offseason. That kind of upheaval elsewhere in the league is part of why Navy, despite replacing its quarterback and half its defensive staff, still opens as the conference favorite.
Navy 2026 futures odds
Navy's win total sits at 7.5, with the over priced at -160 and the under at +125, a number that reflects real respect for the program given Navy has hit double digits in wins each of the last two seasons. The Midshipmen are also the favorite to win the American Conference at +360, ahead of UTSA in the +400 to +450. See above for the latest futures odds for Navy.
If you'd rather trade Navy's futures than bet those numbers outright, Kalshi and Polymarket both list American Conference and win-total contracts. You can find a Kalshi promo code and a Polymarket promo code on our promo pages, and our college football prediction market promos page tracks current offers across the space.
The Navy angle: Newberry's scheme has now produced multiple productive quarterbacks in Horvath and, in a small sample, Woodson. A run-heavy system anchored by four returning offensive linemen is generally more replaceable at quarterback than a pass-first spread offense would be, and the market's respect for Navy's win total suggests bettors agree. Whether that holds against tougher American competition than Woodson saw in his one spot start is the thing to track early.
Betting the Navy moneyline
The moneyline is a bet on the winner, no margin involved. To illustrate: if Navy were priced at +550 hosting Notre Dame and the Irish at -800, converting to implied probability puts Navy around 15.4% and Notre Dame around 88.9%, summing to roughly 104.3%. That extra few points is the sportsbook's built-in margin, not a signal about who's actually going to win.
That's a good spot to correct a common myth directly: a short price on a heavy favorite isn't automatically "less value," and it's not the safer or smarter side just because it's more likely to hit. Value depends on whether the number matches the true odds of the outcome, not on how short or long the price looks. Uneven juice tells you where money is landing relative to the book's line, not which side is correct.

Betting Navy point spreads
The spread sets a margin rather than just a winner. Betting Navy to cover as an underdog means the Midshipmen either win outright or lose by less than the number; betting them to cover as a favorite means they need to win by more than the number.
Navy hosting Notre Dame this year, after road losses to the Irish the last two meetings, is a spot worth watching closely once the number is set. A shift from road to home against the same opponent, combined with a new quarterback and a new-look defensive staff, is exactly the kind of situation where a spread can be mispriced in either direction early. Track it against the ATS standings as results come in.
Why Navy's defense is the one to watch: a new pair of first-year co-defensive coordinators taking over from a three-year incumbent is a real scheme change, even if the head coach and system stay the same. Spreads and totals involving Navy may move more than usual in September as the new staff's tendencies become clear. Check our projections as that picture develops.

Betting the Navy total
The total, or over/under, is a bet on the combined score rather than the winner. Navy's offense finished top-40 nationally in both scoring and total yardage in 2025, but that number came with Horvath running the show, not Woodson.
Check betting splits to see where public money is landing on Navy totals early in the year, since the public may be slower than the market to adjust for both a new starting quarterback and a rebuilt defensive staff running the show at the same time. Our expert picks break down specific total calls each week as that data comes in.
Navy player props
Player props are limited in college football, and coverage varies significantly by state; several states, including Maryland, specifically restrict college football player props. Where they are available, expect Braxton Woodson's rushing and passing props to carry more uncertainty than most starting quarterbacks this early in the season, since his entire sample as a starter consists of one spot start against Notre Dame last year.
Where props aren't offered or the market is too thin to trust, game-level markets like first-half winner or team total remain a way to get exposure to a Navy game without needing a settled read on the new quarterback.
