  • Buffalo Bills running back Zack Moss is a surprise inactive for Sunday's NFL Week 1 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
  • Moss' status paves the way for Devin Singletary to handle a huge workload, which is very important for fantasy football managers.
  • Below we update where Singletary lands in our latest NFL Week 1 fantasy football running back rankings.

In a surprising late-morning twist, news broke that Buffalo Bills running back Zack Moss will be inactive for Sunday's NFL Week 1 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Prior to the news, Moss was listed as the 36-ranked running back in standard scoring leagues according to The Action Network's fantasy football Week 1 rankings.

Due to the lack of clarity regarding Buffalo's backfield, our fantasy football experts also had Devin Singletary ranked at No. 35 ahead of Week 1, basically making this situation a coin flip.

However, Singletary is now clearly the preferred Bills running back, at least in Week 1.

According to The Action Network's fantasy football analyst Sean Koerner, Singletary now sits just outside his top 24 running backs for Week 1:

"Singletary moves up to RB26 for me, putting him on the RB2/3 fringe. Normally I would move him into the mid-RB2 range, but Matt Breida limits his upside a bit and this is still a pretty tough matchup against Pit."

Singletary also makes for an interested DFS play as well with just a $4700 price tag in DraftKings contests.

Sunday's Steelers vs. Bills matchup may have additional value for running backs based on the latest weather forecast in Buffalo.

According to updated weather reports, strong winds and potentially rain are expected at New Era Stadium on Sunday afternoon, which could certainly impact the teams' effectiveness and interest in throwing the ball.
