The 2025 Rocket Classic is set to tee off another PGA Tour tournament this weekend from Detroit Golf Club in Detroit, Mich. The field is led by Collin Morikawa, who is coming in as a +122 favorite according to odds posted at DraftKings.
It's a lighter field in terms of big-name talent this week following last week's final Signature Event of the year and the U.S. Open the week prior. While many of the top names, such as Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, are taking the week off, we have two players in the field ranked in the top 10 of the World Rankings, and 10 of the top 50.
Morikawa is one of those top-10 players, and the other is Keegan Bradley, who is coming off a thrilling win last week at the Travelers Championship, which shot him up to No. 7 in the world rankings. Bradley is +1800 to win the Rocket Classic, which is third on the odds board behind Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay (+1600).
Here are my 2025 Rocket Classic picks, as well as the PGA Tour schedule and golf odds.
Rocket Classic Picks
I have backed Davis Thompson several times over the last year, including the week when he won last year as well as last year at this same event where he finished T2.
I love him again in this spot, as this is the exact kind of course I think he can really take advantage of, which was evident last year when he shot 69 or better four days in a row.
Thompson is one of the best ball-strikers in this field, and his only real weakness is putting, as he ranks outside the top 100 in SG: Putting. However, despite that he is still 12th in this field in BoB%, and he has proven that although he struggles with consistency on the greens he is more than capable of popping for positive spike weeks with the putter.
Luke Clanton is another golfer who I have backed several times over the last year, and this is the stretch of events that he absolutely crushed last season.
Clanton disappointed when we backed him at the RBC Canadian Open, but on a course like this where his length is going to really give him an advantage he should really have an edge off the tee, especially considering there is no real trouble here.
Clanton absolutely destroyed these kinds of course that offer very little trouble and have a lot of birdies out there. Over the last two years, Clanton ranks second in total strokes gained in this field on easy and long courses.
Max Greyserman was a guy I liked a good amount last week, but he fell apart on Sunday and dropped all the way to T36. However, he has put up some really solid finishes in very difficult fields, and in a softer field I like him to contend this week.
Greyserman has the very nice combo of distance and elite putting, as he ranks 20th in driving distance and second in SG: Putting in this field over the last year.
He also ranks fifth in Birdie or Better%, which will be crucial this week as the winner of this event will certainly have to put plenty of birdies on the board.
This is the ideal course/event when I think of Stephan Jaeger contending. He will be able to bomb the ball off the tee and use his strong approach and putting games to give himself plenty of chances to make birdies.
Over the last six months, Jaeger ranks 18th in distance, 17th in SG: Putting and 10th in SG: Approach. Additionally, nobody in this field has gained more strokes on the field on easy and long courses than Jaeger has over the last three years.
