Brewers vs Cubs MLB Betting Preview
The Brewers are finally getting healthier. They have won eight of their past 10 games, with the help of Jackson Chourio and Andrew Vaughn's return.
Milwaukee's roster is the best on paper in the NL Central, and they sit a half-game back of the first-place Chicago Cubs. This division is far from the usual cakewalk, as the last-place Cincinnati Reds are an even .500 through 48 games!
There were recent concerns with star DH Christian Yelich (back), but he returned to the lineup two days ago after sitting out multiple games. Yelich appears healthy now after hitting home runs in back-to-back days.
This roster does not have many glaring holes. The offense is top-ten, the rotation is loaded with multiple young upside arms, and the bullpen is dominant.
The only real concern is health. Star SP Brandon Woodruff is back on the Injured List after dealing with a significant drop in velocity, and they lost offseason addition Angel Zerpa to Tommy John surgery.
Chourio, Yelich, and Garrett Mitchell have all had trouble staying healthy in recent years, too. If this team can stay on the field, they will be formidable come the postseason.
The Cubs sit in first place, but for how long? The offense is one of the best in baseball. They rank fifth in team wRC+, with the fifth-lowest strikeout rate, and second-best walk rate.
Unfortunately, they do not have the rotation to succeed throughout a season. Cade Horton will not pitch again this season, Justin Steele may not pitch this season, and Matthew Boyd may be out until July.
This leaves them with a rotation consisting of Colin Roa and Jameson Taillon on the back end. Also, Edward Cabrera has not pitched well enough in recent weeks. He has a 4.06 ERA this season, but a 5.26 ERA since April 11, with at least three earned runs allowed in each start.
Shota Imanaga just gave up eight ER against the Brewers yesterday, inflating his ERA to 3.38. Imanaga is the closest thing to an SP1 on the roster, but he would not be considered that on most competitive teams.
Today's starter, Ben Brown, could become a frontline starter, yet we cannot consider him one until he pitches deeper than four innings into a game.

Brewers vs Cubs Pick, Betting Analysis
On the topic of Ben Brown, we will be betting against him today. While Brown has not given up two walks since April 5, he does have a league-average 7.8% walk rate.
Brown is an extremely skilled SP, who has only just begun pitching deeper into games in his past two starts. There may have been multiple instances where he allowed more than one walk in earlier outings had he pitched more than one or two innings.
He gave up one walk each to the Braves and Rangers in his past two starts, yet neither ranks in the top-ten, let alone top-five, like the Milwaukee Brewers in team walk rate against right-handed pitching.
The Brewers' 11.1% walk rate vs RHP is fourth in baseball, just ahead of the Dodgers, and two spots behind the Cubs. Misiorowski's line of 1.5 BB today is also worth placing an over bet on, but that has shorter odds at -210. If anything, you can parlay that with the best bet for today.
Pick: Ben Brown Over 1.5 BB
