For my MLB player props and picks for Tuesday, May 27, I'll be looking into a pair of hitters in the Rays' Brandon Lowe and the Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino.
Additionally, Astros ace Hunter Brown will look to bounce back at home against the Athletics.
Let's dive into my MLB player prop picks for Tuesday night.
MLB Player Props — 5/27
- Brandon Lowe Over 1.5 Total Bases (+155, Fanatics)
- Vinnie Pasquantino Over 1.5 Total Bases (+125, BetMGM)
- Hunter Brown Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-110, DraftKings)
Twins vs Rays Player Props: Back Lowe To Carry On Run
With a home run on Sunday, Brandon Lowe has tied for the second-most home runs in his career through the end of May. He is up to 10 home runs on the year and three of them have come in his last nine games.
Lowe enters today's game with a hit in each of his last nine games.
Lowe will look to extend his hitting streak against Twins ace Joe Ryan, who has allowed seven extra-base hits to left-handed hitters thus far this season. Lowe has 12 of his 14 extra-base hits against right-handed pitchers while hitting .270 with a .788 OPS. He is just 1-for-5 against Ryan, but the lone hit was a double.
With another double tonight, Lowe will record two total bases for the seventh consecutive game. He has five hits in his last two games.
He is also +425 on DraftKings for a home run tonight.
Reds vs Royals Player Props: Pasquantino Doing Damage
While Lowe is on a nine-game hitting streak, Vinnie Pasquantino raises him with a 10-game hitting streak, which has helped him continue a strong month.
In May, he is hitting .350 with three doubles, four home runs, 12 RBI, and an .875 OPS. Tonight, Pasquantino will see an old friend with Brady Singer, who is making his first start against the Royals following an offseason trade.
Entering the year, there were some questions about how well his stuff would translate to the Great American Ball Park. It is actually on the road where he has been awful, with a 6.66 ERA and a .330 opposing batting average. He has also allowed four doubles, a triple, and six home runs to left-handed hitters this season.
Pasquantino has done much of his damage against right-handed pitching, slashing .274/.318/.446 with six doubles, a triple, and seven of his home runs.
With a matchup in his favor tonight, Pasquantino enters tonight's game with two hits in each of his last four games and 10 of his last 20 games.
Pasquantino is +235 for two hits tonight and another multi-hit game would also give him two bases.
Athletics vs Astros Player Props: Brown in Cy Young Contention
On Sunday, Tarik Skubal dazzled with a two-hit, 13-strikeout Maddux. Skubal is the heavy favorite to repeat as AL Cy Young, but prior to his last start, Hunter Brown had been right there with him.
Against Tampa, Brown struggled through five innings while allowing seven hits, five earned runs, and striking out four. Still, he enters this start with a 2.04 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and .185 opposing batting average.
Brown's last start also ended a streak of five consecutive starts with nine strikeouts. He has 71 strikeouts and a 30.6% strikeout rate this season. Brown has recorded at least seven strikeouts in seven of his 10 starts this season. He also had 15 strikeouts in two starts against the Athletics last season.
The Athletics are not as strikeout prone as they were last season, but they did just snap an 11-game losing streak.
Over the weekend, Zack Wheeler, Cristopher Sanchez, and Jesus Luzardo cleared their strikeouts line against the Athletics with Wheeler and Luzardo having eight and 10, respectively. Even the Angels' Jack Kochanowicz, who is not known for strikeouts, had six against them last Wednesday.
Seven will do the trick for Brown tonight. However, if he starts another streak with nine strikeouts, you can back him for eight strikeouts at +170 and nine at +310 on DraftKings.
