Pistons vs Warriors NBA Preview
The Pistons are 9-4 in January and hold a 5.5-game lead on the Knicks and Celtics. However, their flaws have been pretty apparent of late as well.
In January, the Pistons are just 17th in offensive rating. They have split their last four games, shooting 22% or worse from three in three of those games.
The Pistons shoot just 34.7% from three as a team, but they also attempt the fourth-fewest in the league.
Last night, they fell 114-96 to the Suns. They trailed by double digits much of the first quarter and cut the deficit to three points in the third quarter.
Cade Cunningham had 26 points and seven assists, and Duren had 23 points and 13 rebounds. However, they ran out of gas as the Suns built their lead back up and pulled away.
Dillon Brooks had 40 points as the Suns went 16-for-42 from behind the arc.
Tonight's game will be a contrast in styles, with the Pistons looking to dominate the paint while the Warriors lead the league in both 3-pointers and 3-point attempts.
That is largely because of Stephen Curry, who is averaging 4.5 made 3s on 11.5 attempts per game. Curry is capable of a 40-point outburst any time he steps on the floor, nearly doing so with 38 last Thursday against the Mavericks.
The Warriors were just starting to gain traction when Jimmy Butler tore his ACL against Miami.
They dropped three of their next games before defeating the Jazz 140-124 on Wednesday night. They have a bit of margin in the eighth seed out West, 2.5 games back of the Suns and 3.5 games ahead of Portland.
However, don't expect the Warriors to rest on their laurels as they figure to be among the most aggressive teams in pursuing Giannis Antetokounmpo.
If not Antetokounmpo, a major move may be necessary, as the non-Curry minutes were already an issue. The Warriors' offense is nearly eight points worse with Curry off the floor, but they are also six points worse without Butler as well.
Pistons vs Warriors Predictions, Betting Analysis
Moses Moody 10+ Points
One Warrior who has been trying to make up for Butler's absence is Moses Moody.
Moody has scored in double figures in nine straight games, scoring 12 points or more in seven of them. He has scored 19 and 26 points in two of his last three games.
Tonight's matchup is difficult, but the Pistons gave 16 3-pointers last night, and Moody averages 2.3 per game.
Ausar Thompson will likely be the primary defender on Curry tonight, while the Pistons may look to hide Duncan Robinson on Moody, giving him an advantageous matchup.
Moody cleared this line on the nose with 12 points in his last game against the Pistons.

Stephen Curry 4+ Three-Pointers Made
In that game, Curry knocked down 4 3-pointers.
He has made four triples in three of his last four games against the Pistons and three of his last five games overall.

Jalen Duren 10+ Rebounds
Duren had 13 rebounds last night, and he has had 12 or more in each of his last three games against the Warriors.
The Warriors are 25th in rebounds allowed to centers.
Over their past few games, Bam Adebayo, Dwight Powell, Karl-Anthony Towns, Naz Reid and Rudy Gobert have each had double-digit rebounds against the Warriors.
I like Duren to join that group with at least 10 tonight.

Cade Cunningham 20+ Points
Cunningham had a rough stretch as he battled a wrist injury, but he has scored 20 points in each of his last three games.
He has scored 20 points in four straight games against the Warriors with 30 in each of the last three, two of which were on the second night of a back-to-back.
This season, Cunningham has scored 20 points in five of six games on the second night of back-to-back, averaging 27 per game.
