Hawks vs Magic NBA Preview
To many, this is No. 3 and No. 4 in the Eastern Conference waiting to happen.
In this conference, the jury is and will be out seemingly all year. But as far as the start, Orlando outlasted an unsurprisingly gritty Miami Heat team to win by four — the Heat covered.
And the Hawks were thumped at home by Toronto by 20, allowing 138 points to a team who many of us at Action like to punch above their 40-ish win projection.
It's a clash of styles in Orlando vs. Atlanta, with the Magic bringing forth what we expect to be a top three to five defense, and the Hawks likely having a high-octane offense around Trae Young, with an improved defensive floor.
Zaccharie Risacher is questionable with an ankle injury for Atlanta, and Mo Wagner has yet to return for Orlando since tearing his ACL in December.
Hawks vs Magic Prediction, Betting Analysis
Paolo Banchero got to 35 points and rebounds combined against the Miami Heat, and the Hawks face similar size questions while not having Bam Adebayo in their starting lineup (or Kel'el Ware coming off their bench).
The Hawks have a probably declining and more perimeter-centric Kristaps Porzingis at center, starting him at the five in favor of Onyeka Okongwu, who will be a Sixth Man of the Year contender if he comes off the bench for enough games.
Even with those two and likely future All-Star Jalen Johnson, Atlanta got beat badly on the boards at home against Toronto, 54–34.
I'll take Banchero over 32.5 PR in a better match-up.
Pick: Paolo Banchero Over 32.5 Points + Rebounds (-120)
