Heat vs Clippers NBA Preview
The Heat, now 3-3 on the year, are on a two-game skid after an impressive start.
Now, they're coming off a Sunday night loss to the Lakers, falling 130-120 to the purple and gold.
The Clippers are 3-2 this year, emphatically answering that opening night blunder against the Jazz, though they haven't looked awesome otherwise.
They're just 13th in offense and 21st in defense with a negative net rating and have a loss to Golden State, where they were limited to 79 points. Plus, their wins are against Phoenix, Portland and New Orleans.
The Heat have losses to Orlando, San Antonio and the Lakers, but wins over the Grizzlies, Knicks and Hornets.
Miami, still first in pace, is 10th in offense and still third in defense.
Against the spread, the Clippers are 1-4 and Miami is 4-2.
On the injury front, Kasaparas Jakucionis and Tyler Herro have been out due to injury, while Terry Rozier is still away from the team due to the gambling investigation.
Notably, Norman Powell has missed two straight games with a groin injury.
A return to action would mean Powell's first game in LA since being dealt to Miami from the Clippers this summer.
The Clippers have no major injuries listed.
Heat vs Clippers Prediction, Betting Analysis
Let's keep it simple: Jaime Jaquez Jr. Over 22.5 points + rebounds + assists.
I also like his points over 12.5 if that's where the number still is, but for this piece, we'll take the PRA.
Even if Powell plays, Jaquez should have a clear shot at this.
He has exceeded 22.5 PRA in four of six games this year, including in three of the four Powell plays.
He's also scored 13 or more in five of six, getting to at least 17 four times, including a 31-point showing just last night.
He's making 64 percent from the field, and while that isn't sustainable all season long, it doesn't have to tail off this game.
He looks fantastic in this offense, which is especially a hyper-fast motion, read-and-react system, which benefits Jaquez despite not being a shooter at all (in context, he is 2-for-8 from deep and hasn't taken one in two games).
But he's shredding his overs, and the books are late to adjust.
I like this now, and I'll love it even more if Powell sits.
Pick: Jaime Jaquez Over 22.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists (-115, via bet365)
