Suns vs Nuggets NBA Preview
The Nuggets opened the season with a damn near classic in Golden State, losing on Thursday night in overtime despite getting the performance of Aaron Gordon's life.
Gordon had 10-of-11 from three and had a career-best 50 points, but the Nuggets were ultimately outgunned by Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and the Warriors.
Nikola Jokic's triple-double (21 points on 8-of-23 with 13 rebounds and 10 assists) was quieter than normal, but it's hard to see Denver losing to an inferior Suns team on the second of a back-to-back after suffering a near 30-point loss to the Clippers.
The Clippers bounced back and responded to their Game 1 embarrassment of a loss to the Jazz with a 129-102 win over the Suns.
Now, Phoenix flies from Los Angeles to Denver to tip off less than 24 hours after their loss concluded.
Denver is a huge favorite, and for good reason.
Suns vs Nuggets Prediction, Betting Analysis
It feels like a trap to take Denver -13, but this is a brutal rest disadvantage spot for Phoenix and a nice bounce-back spot for the Nuggets, who are now at home.
To me, this is chalk. I'm eyeing some props, which I may log in the Action app prior to tip-off, but for now, I'll take Denver to cover the -13.
Props on my radar are Nikola Jokic overs — rebounds or rebounds and assists, specifically — along with Cam Johnson threes, but neither are plays for me as of this writing.
I also think there's a live betting opportunity to ride with Denver in the third quarter if Phoenix plays a competitive first half, or to play Phoenix to win the third quarter if the first half is a beatdown, like last night's Heat-Grizzlies game or the aforementioned Jazz-Clippers upset.
I may sprinkle on Denver to win by 20+ as well.
