  • No. 1 Alabama will play No. 3 LSU this Saturday in Baton Rouge (8 p.m. ET).
  • Alabama has covered the first-half spread in each of its games this season, and is a 7.5-point first-half favorite on Saturday.

As you may have heard, there's a pretty big college football game this Saturday.

You've also probably heard that Alabama has been pretty good at football this season, going undefeated through its first eight games.

That undefeated record has produced a 5-3 ATS record, — not bad for anyone tailing the Tide. The real moneymakers, however, have been Alabama first-half bettors.

The Tide are a perfect 8-0 against the first-half spread this season, covering by more than 11 points per game, and oddsmakers at MGM have opened this Saturday's first-half line against LSU at Alabama -7.5, with some heavy -130 juice on the favorite.

So, for any bettors hoping the first-half line would allow them to not have to lay the hook — Alabama is a 14.5-point favorite in the full game — I'm sorry to say, no such luck. Any 'Bama bettors are going to have to pick the lesser of two evils this Saturday.

Of course, there's always a chance that this line will move approaching game day. But with fairly even betting percentages holding steady at this point in the week — Bama has attracted 54% of full game bets and 52% of dollars — it's tough to even guess which way sportsbooks would move this line if they did.
