Charlotte vs App State College Football Preview
This game triggered one of our Action PRO betting systems, powered by Evan Abrams:
Undervalued Road Dogs is a college football system that identifies situations where teams receiving little respect from the market have a stronger chance of covering the spread than expected.
These games occur in the regular season when the spread is set between 7.5 and 21.5 points, suggesting the road team is viewed as a heavy underdog.
Often these teams are on losing streaks away from home, which drives public perception even lower, but their Pythagorean rating indicates they are still performing competitively within a reasonable margin.
When the closing total is between 39 and 55.5, scoring is projected to be moderate, creating a better chance for the underdog to keep the game within the number.
With public betting often leaning toward the favorite in these spots, the road dog is overlooked, allowing the line to offer value.
This combination of perception, spread range, and statistical balance consistently highlights underdogs that cover more often than expected.

Charlotte vs App State Pick, Betting Analysis
This Charlotte team is bad.
But the Niners covered against Ole Miss last week. They've generated some Explosiveness (1.30, 48th Nationally) and have been good at keeping everything in front of them (1.17 allowed, 56th), which is a good way to avoid blowouts. They might be slightly underrated by the market.
Meanwhile, App State's statistical profile is inflated from its Week 1 beatdown of Maine (55-3). The Mountaineers went on to upset East Carolina as a 6.5-point dog in Week 2, but they were lucky to win the turnover battle 2-0, recovering their own fumble while the Pirates lost theirs.
In the preseason, App State was projected as the worst team in the Sun Belt, ranking 127th nationally in returning production (only four total starters returned from last season). At this moment, I'm unsure if the Mountaineers are good enough to be laying over 17 against any FCS team, including Charlotte — maybe after a few weeks when the new faces start to gel.
Pick: Charlotte +17 or Better
