Memphis is off to a remarkable start to its 2026 campaign, as the Tigers upset UNLV as a seven-point road underdog and recorded an 18-point beatdown over Arkansas State in their home opener.
Despite those impressive wins, the Tigers still enter Saturday’s matchup as a 7.5-point underdog, which is likely due to Boise State’s remarkable effort in a close loss to Oregon.
In their first two games, the Tigers’ rushing attack was on full display. They recorded 195 rushing yards in Week 1 before racking up 335 yards on the ground in Week 1.
Southern Miss transfer Jaylin Carter exploded for a whopping 183 rushing yards and four touchdowns against Arkansas State.
QB Marcus Stokes has been quite impressive, too, with the former West Florida star throwing for over 400 yards and four passing touchdowns.
Memphis has racked up 69 points and nearly 1,000 yards of total offense in its first two games.
The Tigers' defense has shown strong resilience as well, allowing just 10 second-half points this season. The Memphis secondary has been a highlight, as the Tigers picked off four passes against the Red Wolves.
Boise State Broncos Betting Preview
Boise State enters its first season in the reborn Pac-12 under third-year head coach Spencer Danielson. The Broncos are undoubtedly holding the top spot in the league’s power rankings.
The Broncos enter their home opener off of a heartbreaking loss to Oregon, but they have nothing to hang their heads about. They were a 24-point road underdog with nobody giving them any chance, and yet they hung around for four quarters against the Ducks.
Senior QB Maddux Madsen returned as the Broncos' starter this season following impressive campaigns in each of his last two campaigns.
Madsen is coming off of an impressive Week 1 showing, throwing for three touchdowns and committing zero turnovers.
The Broncos' backfield features a ton of depth, with junior RB Dylan Riley leading the charge and sophomore Sire Gaines getting a good chunk of carries in the RB2 capacity. Sophomore Juelz Goff is expected to see some touches as well, despite not recording a rushing attempt in the Broncos' first game of the season.
Both Riley and Gaines saw double-digit touches out of the backfield against Oregon, with both halfbacks averaging at least 3 yards per carry (YPC).
Danielson’s offense is particularly rush-heavy, with the Broncos receiving corps having a ton of uncertainty.
Freshman WR Rasean Jones boasts a ton of athleticism and seems to have emerged as Broncos WR1, racking up 76 receiving yards in his first-ever collegiate game.
While Boise’s offense in Week 1, it's the Broncos' defense that anchors the team, with edge rusher Jayden Virgin-Morgan and senior edge Max Stege leading an elite pass rush.
The Broncos' secondary is led by CB Sherrod Smith and safety Travis Anderson, both of whom played key roles in Week 1.
Memphis vs Boise State Pick, Betting Analysis
While Memphis enters its third game of the season with a ton of momentum following impressive victories, I see Boise State as the far more well-rounded squad. In addition the Broncos have a well-established edge on the “smurf turf” at their home Albertsons Stadium.
I expect Danielson’s bunch to come out extremely hot following its Week 1 loss to second-ranked Oregon, which is why I favor backing Boise State to cover the -5.5 first-half spread as my primary betting angle ahead.
