UAB vs Louisiana College Football Preview

The Cajuns showed their feistiness against USC, easily covering while showcasing Lunch Winfield at quarterback — he posted an 84 QBR with 91 rushing yards and a pair of scores.

We also might get wideout Shelton Sampson back from his hyper-extended knee injury. That would put some wind in their sails. But like most G6 programs, they’re cagey with information.

The Trojan passing attack gashed Louisiana, but that’s with an elite quarterback and some special skill-position talent.

How’s UAB looking under Alex Mortensen? Not so great.

The Blazers barely beat UL Monroe at home behind a lackluster passing attack (Ryder Burton was 8-for-16 passing with 115 yards, one touchdown, one pick, and a 30.5 QBR).

UAB vs Louisiana Pick, Betting Analysis

As someone who has watched many UAB games over the past few years, the Blazers never really had an identity under Trent Dilfer. However, he always got the most out of his quarterbacks.

But this wide receiver room has been raided over the past few transfer portal cycles. Amari Thomas (Florida State), Iverson Hooks (Oregon), and Corey Miller (UCLA) are all gone. That talent drain has finally caught up to them — this offense has no pop.

Louisiana got pushed around by USC and its passing attack, but it’ll have a far easier time against Burton and UAB.

What will UAB do if it can’t throw the football? The Blazers will try to run it, but they have a really boring running game (three yards and a cloud of dust). Louisiana can load the box and stuff that ground attack, forcing Burton to attempt to throw the ball in a trailing game script with little-to-no skill-position talent.

Pick: Louisiana -7.5 or Better
