It’s No. 7 Ole Miss against No. 19 Texas: Rebels against Longhorns. Prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi favor one of the two teams, but the two sides of college football are chasing very different storylines: the Rebels arrive at 5-1 looking to stay inside the Heisman conversation, while the Longhorns are 4-2 and fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Ole Miss vs. Texas odds: spread, moneyline and total
Prediction markets favor one side, though not by an overwhelming margin: Kalshi has Texas at 58% to Ole Miss’s 42%, while Polymarket shows the Longhorns at 60% against the Rebels’ 41%. Kalshi’s board alone has moved more than $1.2 million on this matchup, well above Polymarket’s roughly $111,000.
Ole Miss ranks third nationally in scoring offense with Trinidad Chambliss running the show, while Texas owns one of the country’s stingier defenses: a mismatch that explains why both the spread and the market point to a tighter, lower-scoring game rather than a shootout.
Trinidad Chambliss: Heisman odds and what he needs
On Kalshi, Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith has built a comfortable lead in the Heisman race: a notable shift from where things stood 6 weeks ago, when Chambliss was the one sitting on top. His peak came right after Ole Miss ran Lane Kiffin’s LSU team off the field in Week 3, a performance that pushed him to a season-high 22% on the exchange.
The run didn’t last: a rough outing against Florida the following week sent him tumbling back toward the pack, and Miami’s Darian Mensah has since settled into the clear No. 2 spot behind Smith.
None of that rules Chambliss out. Ole Miss still has a marquee date in November against No. 5 Georgia, and a strong showing there, paired with a result in Austin this week, is probably what it takes to pull him back into serious contention.
What the result means for the playoff race
Saturday’s loser takes a real hit to its playoff outlook, so there’s more riding on this one than a typical regular-season game.
On Polymarket’s market for finishing among the four seeded teams, Ole Miss is priced at 36 cents, well behind Georgia’s 73 and Notre Dame’s 63, which shows how little room the Rebels have left to slip against a brutal remaining SEC slate.
Texas isn’t among the top names in that market at all, a sign of how much more is riding on Saturday for the Longhorns, who likely need to win out from here to stay in the picture.
Where the market is leaning
The clearest signal right now sits on the moneyline rather than the spread: Ole Miss is pulling in a disproportionately larger share of the money than its share of tickets would suggest, with the gap between the two running close to 20 percentage points. That points to larger positions backing the Rebels to either pull the outright upset or keep it close, even with Texas favored just about everywhere else on the board.
