To cap off Week 0, UNLV takes on Memphis in a marquee Group of 6 standalone game on FOX on Saturday night at 10 p.m. ET.

The Rebels went 10-2 last season in the regular season, while the Tigers are bringing in a new head coach (Charles Huff).

So, here's my UNLV vs Memphis parlay and picks for Saturday, August 29.

Memphis Tigers Alt +6.5 (-145)

To start this SGP, I like taking Memphis on an alternate spread. At +6.5, with the -145 juice, it seems like the perfect storm for what I expect to be a closely contested battle.

On paper, this seems to be a game to favor the Rebels, but I couldn’t disagree more.

Coach Huff has an extensive resume, as he has head coaching experience at Southern Miss and assistant experience with Alabama, Penn State and Mississippi State.

Also, while Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold was initially viewed as the lead contender for UNLV’s quarterback, reports indicate that he's looked atrocious in camp and is set to split reps with Alex Orji.

It's definitely problematic that Memphis has yet to name its starting QB too, but I'm far from worried given Huff’s experience working as an offensive specialist in power conference ball.

In a game that I expect to be an absolute battle for all four quarters, I feel great backing Memphis to keep this game close — or even win.

Jai'Den Thomas 70+ Rushing Yards (-180)

If you’re familiar with my previous SGP's either in other sports, you would know that I typically prefer pairing two negatively correlated wagers.

Thus, I'll be taking a shot on UNLV RB Jai’Den Thomas to record at least 70 rushing yards with a -180 price tag.

Thomas went on an absolute tear for the Rebels last season, recording over 1,000 yards on the ground in addition to seven yards per carry.

In a game I expect to have plenty of offense on both sides, backing Thomas to rush for over 69.5 yards should round out our SGP nicely.
