UTEP vs Delaware Pick
The Blue Hens are one win away from Bowl Eligibility.
Yes, they’re technically ineligible. But if there aren’t enough teams to qualify for bowl season, which is looking increasingly likely, or if a team backs out, which has happened before, then Delaware could get the call if it reaches six wins.
The Hens are sitting at 5-6, so I imagine they’ll be motivated in this spot to reach the six-win threshold.
Delaware has played well at home this season, handling FCS in-state rival Delaware State, upsetting a nine-win UConn team, out-gaining an eight-win Western Kentucky team in a fluky loss, beating Middle Tennessee by three and Louisiana Tech by one.
Meanwhile, UTEP is drawing dead at 2-9.
The Miners haven’t played well in 2025. They’ve lost four straight games, allowing 30-plus points in every game.
The quarterback play isn’t there, as Skyler Locklear has posted a 36.2 quarterback rating during the losing streak.
At the same time, Nick Minicucci should cook UTEP’s defense.
The Miners struggle to rush the passer, and they’re terrible in coverage. From a clean pocket, Miniucci has 16 touchdowns behind 15 big-time throws. If you give him time, he will pick you apart.
Finally, this is the longest road trip in Conference USA, at least as the crow flies. If the Miners get off to a slow start — which they’re known to do, having scored a first-quarter touchdown only twice — then the crowd should get into the game, and the Hens should roll to a big home win.
Pick: Delaware -5.5 or Better
