Western Kentucky vs Georgia College Football Preview
Georgia enters this one fresh off one of the most dominant openers of the Kirby Smart era, dismantling Tennessee State 63-3 while piling up 660 total yards, which is now among the top five offensive outputs in program history. Quarterback Gunner Stockton was nearly flawless, going 15-of-16 for three touchdowns, and the performance was strong enough that Georgia covered a spread of 38.5 points or more for the first time ever under Smart.
The reward for that dominance is another lopsided number this week, with Georgia sitting at a 40.5-point favorite over Western Kentucky depending on the book, and the total sitting at 55.5.
Western Kentucky, meanwhile, enters 0-1 after a loss at Nevada and will be without leading receiver K.D. Hutchinson, who caught 66 passes for 618 yards and three touchdowns last season, is out with an undisclosed injury.
There's an interesting subplot on the other side of the ball, too. Hilltoppers' first-year offensive coordinator Bodie Reeder previously worked alongside Georgia's own offensive coordinator, Mike Bobo, at Auburn in 2021, though that shared history offers Western Kentucky little in the way of a real defensive game plan against a Georgia offense operating at this level.
This is a true non-conference matchup between an SEC power and a Conference USA opponent, with calm, light-wind conditions expected in Athens on gameday.

Western Kentucky vs Georgia Pick, Betting Analysis
This sets up as a strong fit for a system built around blowout non-conference games with a total that looks conservative relative to the mismatch.
Georgia is favored by well over 30 points at home against a clear talent gap, and Western Kentucky's unfamiliarity with SEC-caliber competition. That, paired with the loss of its top receiving weapon, leaves little in the way of a real defensive answer.
In spots like this, the favorite tends to score early and often, while the underdog, overwhelmed and playing from behind, often ends up contributing some points of its own late once backups are in, and the game has opened up further defensively on both sides.
The total itself looks light given what Georgia just showed. A team that scored 63 points and racked up 660 yards against an FCS opponent, with an elite, highly efficient starting quarterback, facing an FBS opponent that's already shown real vulnerability on defense and is now further shorthanded at a key offensive skill spot, has a real path to a track meet even without needing a full four quarters of executing at peak level.
With no significant wind in the forecast to disrupt passing or kicking efficiency, one of the more common obstacles to a high-scoring shootout is off the table. Between Georgia's offensive ceiling, Western Kentucky's lack of proven answers, the calm conditions, and a total that hasn't fully priced in this level of mismatch, the over looks well-supported.
Pick: Over 55.5
