Football is back.

It won't be the most aesthetically pleasing game of 2022, but the Jaguars and Raiders will start the NFL preseason in Canton, Ohio, tonight with the annual Hall of Fame Game.

Don't expect to see many familiar names in this game. Trevor Lawrence and other Jaguars starters are unlikely to suit up, as is backup QB C.J. Beathard, and fans will have to wait longer to see Derek Carr connect with Davante Adams for the first time in competitive action.

Who we will see in new colors will be head coaches Doug Pederson and Josh McDaniels on their respective sidelines. Pederson takes over after the Jaguars' Urban Meyer experiment failed, and McDaniels becomes the full-time head coach after Jon Gruden was fired in the middle of last season.

As long as there's football, you know we will have a play for you on it. Two of our experts have targeted the total in this game, and they lay out their picks for you below.

Jaguars vs. Raiders Picks

Chris Raybon: Under 30.5 (play to 30)

Both teams will be resting their starting quarterbacks, and the Jags will be without backup C.J. Beathard as well. While the Jags may use preseason GOAT Kyle Sloter (11 TD, one INT in his preseason career), he's only been with the team a little over a week.

Hall of Fame Game unders are 5-1 since 2014. And with the total down three from its opener of 33.5, it fits a profitable trend. Preseason unders that drop two or more points from open have gone 59-44-3 (57.2%) since 2004.

Simon Hunter: Under 30.5

The under is a popular play for the Hall of Fame Game, and it has gone 12-7 since 2000. I like it this year, as well.

Both the Jaguars and Raiders are running new offenses, and neither team is likely to feature many/any starters on that side of the ball. Jacksonville already announced that Trevor Lawrence is not going to play, and neither will QB C.J. Beathard.

I’d also bet the first-half under if/when that becomes available, but it wasn’t posted as of Wednesday night.
