Bills vs Lions Preview
I'll start this Week 2 TNF SGP with Bills -4.5.
Let's kick it off with an intriguing angle: Since 2000, a team that played in overtime and followed that up on a short week on Thursday Night Football is 6-27 against the spread. The Lions are coming off an overtime win against the Saints in a game where they led 21-0.
Detroit is riddled with injuries in the secondary, including D.J. Reed and Brian Branch. That's terrible news against the Bills passing game. We're going to exploit that with two props.
The first one is Josh Allen Over 249.5 Passing Yards.
We just saw Allen torch an elite Texans defense for 334 yards through the air. It seems that now that Joe Brady is head coach instead of offensive coordinator, he is using his full authority to go more pass-heavy. In other words, it feels like Sean McDermott held back this offense.
The Bills ranked second in Pass Rate Over Expected in Week 1, which supports this claim. With Allen airing it out more, set for a smash spot vs. the Lions, 250+ passing yards is firmly within reach.
I'll finish it off with DJ Moore Over 62.5 Receiving Yards.
We just saw Moore put up 100 yards in Week 1. He ranked third in air yards for the week at 160. Facing a weak Lions secondary, we should see Moore able to get to 63+ receiving yards here.
The fact that this game is a projected shootout with a 54.5-point total makes me like these props even more, as it projects as the ideal game environment.
To finish it off, we get the added narrative that this is the first game in a new stadium.
It's going to be a raucous crowd, making it a tough environment for the Lions. With that in mind, combine these three legs for a +395 payout for Lions vs Bills.
