Commanders vs Eagles Preview
The Commanders (1-4-1) are in better shape than teams usually are with that record since the NFC East is a weak division. They still have a glimmer of hope to contend, but it has to start with a win at home against the Eagles tonight. Fresh off the bye and facing a team with its backup quarterback, the Commanders are in a good spot to get a victory.
Meanwhile, the Eagles (2-5) have lost five in a row. It's a lost season without Jalen Hurts. We've seen them lose by double digits in each of their last two games against the Cowboys and Panthers.
Aside from navigating life with a backup quarterback like Tanner McKee, they're without DeVonta Smith. Plus, the defense has been a major disappointment. It's a season to forget in Philadelphia.
To start my Commanders vs. Eagles SGP, we'll go with the Commanders Moneyline.
I don't feel comfortable laying six points with Washington against the spread, so we'll focus on them winning outright. Coming off a bye against a spiraling Eagles team in a must-win spot, the Commanders look poised for a victory here. We saw them show some fight against the 49ers on Monday Night Football before the bye, so there's still some life here.
I'll add Jayden Daniels Over 200.5 Passing Yards.
The Eagles have quietly had a tough time defending the pass, ranking 27th in EPA. We saw Dak Prescott (212) and Bryce Young (281) eclipse this number.
Getting to 201+ yards isn't a lot to ask, so we'll ride with Daniels — especially with a decimated backfield making it tough to run the ball as Rachaad White has been inefficient.
We'll finish this SGP with Antonio Williams Over 35.5 Receiving Yards.
The rookie wideout has been thrust into a larger role with Terry McLaurin suffering a season-ending injury. Williams is now the clear-cut No. 2 target for Daniels.
You have to think that the Commanders emphasized getting Williams more involved during the bye week. We've seen him show some upside at times this season.
Think back to his long TD that was called back vs. the Colts earlier this year. At 38+ yards, this isn't too much to ask.
