Another week, another tight end for fantasy managers who don’t have the luxury of owning Travis Kelce or Mark Andrews to consider.

This time around we’ve got the Jaguars' Evan Engram, who had himself a career game in Jacksonville’s upset of the Titans in Week 14. We’re talking 11 receptions, 15 targets, 162 yards and two touchdowns – it’s also the second consecutive week Engram has scored.

Still, this is Evan Engram we’re talking about. Prior to this hot run, he had three games in which he totaled 26 yards, so he’s no lock for production.

Action Network’s fantasy football staff weighs in on whether Engram is a tight end you can trust as the fantasy playoffs commence.

Sean Koerner: I have been waiting for the Engram eruption game for weeks. His underlying usage has been great all season, but we had yet to see him flash any sort of consistency outside of his Week 5-8 stretch when was the TE6.

I think part of that was due to second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence struggling with consistency. However, with Lawrence in the midst of a true breakout, he’s taking Engram along for the ride with him.

Engram erupted for 11/162/2 against the Titans,  one of the top tight end performances of the season. I’m not sure we can expect massive games like that from him going forward, but he’s a much safer bet to project for 4.5-5 receptions based on his usage, which makes him a borderline top-five option.

Samantha Previte: Engram had a career game in Week 14. He caught 11-of-15 targets for 162 yards and two touchdowns and is currently the TE1 in half PPR.

This will be Engram's second top-five finish in a row and fifth top-9 finish in the last nine games, which is quite impressive at a position known for volatility.

I do not know how many 368-yard games we expect Trevor Lawrence to have moving forward, but Engram should continue to garner a significant target share down the stretch. He is, by far, my top tight end waiver add this week who offers more than just flash-in-the-pan upside.

Mike Triplett: It’s hard to count on weekly consistency from any tight end not named Travis Kelce, and we got burned by Engram after a hot stretch earlier this season.

But if you’re tired of playing TE roulette and want to pick one guy to stick with throughout the fantasy playoffs, you know the role is going to be there for Engram.

He actually vaulted from 16th to fourth in fantasy points among tight ends for the 2022 season following his monster Week 14 performance. He also ranks top five this year among tight ends in routes run, catches and yards.
