Chiefs vs Bills Preview, Prediction
The Chiefs are receiving high praise from the oddsmakers as they enter Week 9 tagged as Super Bowl favorites — and favored by two points on the road against the Bills.
However, I think Buffalo matches up very well against Kansas City in this spot.
Defensively, it’s clear that the Bills struggle against the run, sitting 30th in DVOA, and there are some questions to be asked, especially with the injury to Ed Oliver. Buffalo's star DT suffered a torn bicep against the Panthers in Week 8 and was placed on injured reserve.
Kansas City may have just lost its best running back in Isiah Pacheco (sprained knee), but even then, his presence might be negligible considering that Patrick Mahomes has been the Chiefs' best rusher for most of the season.
This Chiefs team has been bolstering their numbers off some unsteady quarterbacks in the last couple of games.
They posted a good win against Detroit, but since then have beaten the Raiders by a score of 31-0 and the Commanders by a score of 28-7 with Marcus Mariota, who wasted several chances to take the lead.
Chiefs vs Bills Predictions, Spread Betting Analysis
The Chiefs are on the road following three straight home games. They posted an 89-24 scoring margin across a trio of matchups against Detroit, Las Vegas and Washington. That seems to be inflating Kansas City's numbers a little bit entering this one.
Josh Allen and the Bills have covered the spread at a 64% rate as home underdogs, and they haven't lost as home 'dogs since 2020, straight up or against the spread (ATS).
This is a spot where I'm always going to back Buffalo in the regular season.
Patrick Mahomes is a perfect 4-0 ATS against the Bills in the playoffs. But in the regular season, Mahomes is only 1-4 against Buffalo, having lost the previous meeting outright, and failing to cover by just under six points per game.
Pick: Bills +2.5; bet to +2
Chiefs vs Bills Against the Spread Prediction
My Bills vs Chiefs betting prediction is on Buffalo to cover the spread at +2.
Chiefs vs Bills Moneyline Pick
I'm taking the points with the Bills as opposed to their moneyline.
Chiefs vs Bills Over/Under Pick
I have no bet for the game total.
