Just how bad is the NFC East?
After squeaking out a 19-17 win over the lowly Cincinnati Bengals and backup quarterback Brandon Allen, the New York Giants head into Week 13 at just 4-7 on the season, but currently lead the NFC East due to a tiebreaker over Washington, which is also 4-7.
But that may not even be the worst of part.
Three NFC East teams (Cowboys vs. Ravens is currently off the board) are underdogs of at least 8.5 points (click here for live NFL odds) in Week 13, meaning that it's very reasonable that all four teams lose this weekend as well, once again leaving the Giants atop the division with a 4-8 record.
Still, someone has to win the NFC and our NFL simulations believe New York is the favorite, although our numbers still see a wide open race.
Here's a look at implied probabilities based on the latest NFC East odds, compared to the results of our NFL simulations.
Team | Implied Probability | Simulations |
---|---|---|
Giants | 33.3% | 40.2% |
Washington | 32.3% | 31.9% |
Eagles | 28.6% | 25.1% |
Cowboys | 16.7% | 2.8% |
NFC East Pick
According to our NFL simulations the Giants are favored in the NFC East even though their 40.2% chance means they'll fall short more often then they'll win the division.
However, when compared to the 33.3% probability that +200 odds imply, they need to win the division just one-third of the time for this bet to break even.
Additionally, shopping for the best odds reveals that BetMGM is offering the Giants at +220 to win the NFC East adding a bit more value to edge with New York.
