The Super Bowl 2026 matchup is still TBD. Pizza, though? That part isn’t changing.
Super Bowl Sunday is the second-biggest pizza day of the year, behind only New Year’s Eve. We pulled Google search data from the past 10 Super Bowls to see where pizza delivery demand runs the highest when the game is on.
From what we saw, the pattern is pretty clear: fanbases drive the surge, and one small state keeps showing up at the top.
Here are the 10 states that order the most pizza on Super Bowl Sunday.
Key Findings
- Delaware orders (and eats) the most pizza on Super Bowl Sundays.
- Michigan (#2) and Pennsylvania (#3) are right there behind them.
- Philadelphia shows up as the city with the highest pizza demand for the last eight Super Bowls, but Google Trends groups that activity underDelaware.
- North Dakota (#50), Vermont (#49), and Alaska (#48), all states without an NFL team, make up the bottom three.
- Hosting a Super Bowl, on average, doesn’t boost a state’s pizza demand.
- States usually see about a 5.8% jump in pizza demand when the home team is playing in the Super Bowl.
- When the Panthers played in the 2016 Super Bowl, demand jumped +25.6 in North Carolina.
- One weird outlier: the Missouri Chiefs see a -6.7% drop in pizza demand. Maybe after all these Super Bowls, they’re tired of pepperoni.
Below, you’ll see a map of all 50 states’ Super Bowl pizza demand. Continue reading for the full ranking, plus the cities and fanbases that stand out every year.

* Note: Due to how Google Trends groups data, Philadelphia PA is grouped under Delaware.
The Top 10 States For Pizza Delivery
1. Delaware
Delaware is the most pizza-hungry state on Super Bowl Sunday. What’s driving it? The First State sits right in Philadelphia Eagles territory, and the Super Bowl data keeps pointing back to Philly. Philadelphia repeatedly ranks as the top city for Super Bowl pizza demand, especially during Eagles appearances (Super Bowls 52, 57, and 59).
2. Michigan
Michigan’s pizza love is basically a tribute to Detroit-style square pizza: thick crust, crispy edges, and cheese that means business. The Lions haven’t made a Super Bowl appearance in the modern era, but Detroit still showed up as a top pizza-search city during Super Bowl 51.
3. Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania takes football and pizza pretty seriously, and it shows. Even with Philly getting grouped under Delaware in Google Trends, Pennsylvania still has plenty of Eagles fans keeping the energy up, and you can’t exactly ignore the loud Steelers crowd, either. Whether it’s a classic Philly tomato pie or a quick delivery order, Penn has plenty of ways to stay fed, no matter who you’re backing.
4. Florida
Florida’s pizza interest stays high no matter who’s playing. The one surprise? It didn’t jump much when Tampa hosted a Super Bowl where the Buccaneers were actually in the game. Still, Florida keeps landing near the top every year.
5. Ohio
Ohio’s Super Bowl pizza orders get a boost from both Browns and Bengals fans, with a noticeable jump during Cincinnati’s Super Bowl LVI run. The pizza vibe here is classic, big round pies, heavy toppings, and enough slices to get you through four quarters and all the commercials.
6. Arizona
Arizona comes in at #6, and its biggest spike was in 2018 during Eagles vs. Patriots. That game was played in Minnesota, but Arizona’s Super Bowl pizza interest peaked anyway. Hosting helps the spotlight, but it’s clearly not required for a surge.
7. Nevada
Nevada is 7th, and Las Vegas explains a lot of it. It’s a delivery-heavy city, and Super Bowl Sunday is the easiest excuse on the calendar to skip the kitchen and order pizza instead.
8. Maryland
Maryland sits between Ravens and Commanders territory, but its pizza habits line up closely with nearby Philly on Super Bowl Sunday. You’ve got East Coast pizza styles everywhere, plus a lot of interest when AFC or NFC rivals are playing. Pizza stays the default.
9. Illinois
Illinois earns its spot on Chicago deep-dish reputation alone. Chicago ranked as a top pizza-search city during Super Bowl 50, and Bears fans still treat Super Bowl Sunday like a food holiday, even when they’re just watching as neutrals.
10. South Carolina
South Carolina rounds out the top 10 with a mix of Southern football loyalty and a growing pizza scene. There’s no in-state NFL team, so fans usually lean toward the Panthers, Falcons, or whoever’s rolling that year, and pizza stays the easiest way to feed a crowd through a full day of coverage.
The Fandom Impact Of Pizza Demand
The table below shows how pizza demand changed in each team’s home state during the Super Bowl.
| Rank | Team | Demand Change | Home State | Super Bowl | Opponent |
| 1 | Panthers | 25.6 | North Carolina | Super Bowl 50 (Feb. 7, 2016) | Broncos |
| 2 | Falcons | 24.8 | Georgia | Super Bowl 51 (Feb. 5, 2017) | Patriots |
| 3 | Eagles | 20.0 | Delaware* | Super Bowls 52, 57, 59 | Patriots / Chiefs |
| 4 | Broncos | 14.7 | Colorado | Super Bowl 50 (Feb. 7, 2016) | Panthers |
| 5 | Patriots | 6.6 | Massachusetts | Super Bowls 51, 52, 53 | Falcons / Eagles / Rams |
*Note: While both Delaware and Pennsylvania see a pizza demand surge from the Eagles, Philly data is grouped with Delaware under Google Trends and sees the biggest demand increase.

Pizza Is A Super Bowl Tradition
Super Bowl Sunday is basically a national pizza meetup. Detroit-style squares, Philly tomato pies, Chicago deep-dish, doesn’t matter what your local spot does best, it all ends up on the same coffee table next to wings and a pile of betting slips. And whoever makes the 2026 matchup, the habit isn’t changing.
People post up for the biggest game of the year, and pizza is still the easiest way to keep everyone fed without missing anything. Based on the last 10 Super Bowls, Delaware (and the other top-demand states) probably ends the night with the tallest stack of empty boxes.
Methodology
This data comes from Google Trends for the past 10 Super Bowls. We tracked search interest for “pizza near me,” since that’s a high-intent query people use when they’re trying to order pizza or pick some up fast.
Worth noting: Google Trends measures search interest, not confirmed orders, but this keyword is about as close as you’ll get to real-time pizza intent. Related searches include Pizza Hut, Domino’s Pizza, and other pizza chains and local spots.
To rank the states, we averaged total demand across the 10 Super Bowls and sorted them from highest to lowest. And to measure the home-team fandom bump, we took each team’s home state and compared its average Super Bowl pizza demand to the years that team actually played.
Another Google Trends quirk to note: the Philadelphia Eagles fall under Delaware, because that’s how Trends groups their search demand.
We ran the same kind of comparison to see whether hosting a Super Bowl changes a state’s pizza demand.
