  • Tuesday night's NHL slates is deep and features 10 games.
  • The schedule offers an array of betting opportunities, including some player props.
  • Below, NHL expert Nicholas Martin shares the props he's targeting for Penguins vs. Red Wings and Blue Jackets vs. Rangers.

Let's dive into my favorite widely available plays for Tuesday's 10-game NHL slate.

For tonight's lineup, we're going to focus on two player props.

Dominik Kubalik Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+136)

Penguins vs. Red Wings, 7 p.m. ET

Dominik Kubalik is a pure a goalscorer who has peppered the opposition's goal with shots when used higher up the lineup this season, but flaws with the rest of his game have kept him down coach Derek Lalonde's lineup cards.

With Tyler Bertuzzi out of the picture and Lucas Raymond struggling, Lalonde decided to shake up things and elevate Kubalik to the Red Wings' top unit at practice alongside Dylan Larkin and David Perron.

Kubalik also skated on the Red Wings' top powerplay unit at Monday's practice.

There's no denying that Kubalik's form has dipped at times this season, leading to significantly deteriorated roles throughout much of early 2023. However, this is an excellent spot to get right, and I believe that Kubalik still has the talent to do so.

This should be a fairly fast-paced game, which could see the Red Wings playing from behind and leaning on the big guns for offense. Pittsburgh has allowed 29.77 shots against per 60 in the month of March, which makes it a middle-of-the-pack shot prop target on that front.

A player with the shooting mindset of Kubalik playing on the top line and top powerplay rarely stays for long around +136 to record over 2.5 shots for long. There was already a time early this season bettors would have thought this number was a complete gift.

Anything down to +115 is playable for Kubalik to record three shots on goal tonight, and backing him to score an anytime goal at +340 is certainly a worthy sprinkle as well.

Pick: Dominik Kubalik Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+136)

Patrick Kane Over 0.5 Powerplay Point (+174)

Blue Jackets vs. Rangers, 7 p.m. ET

New York is in a smash spot tonight versus an extremely depleted Blue Jackets team, and it's reasonable to argue that a four-goal output is somewhat of a floor for the Rangers in this matchup.

With Patrick Kane effectively settling into life as a Ranger, New York's top powerplay unit looks completely lethal and should be viewed as a top-five unit moving forward – though its current ninth-place rank is not bad. Particularly as Coach Gerard Gallant has moved away from his plan to essentially have two strong units and moved Mika Zibanejad back to PP1 where he belongs.

As you might expect Columbus has struggled on the penalty kill with a success rate of just 75.8%. That mark should regress heavily moving forward since it was heavily aided by the quietly strong goaltending of Joonas Korpisalo, who is now with Los Angeles.

Michael Hutchinson is likely to start in goal for Columbus, and he has played to a -3.4 GSAx and .874 save % in eight NHL appearances this season. Hutchinson has also played to a below-average save % in back-to-back AHL seasons if we want to look at a larger sample.

We'll back Kane to get it done on the powerplay and score at least one point, which FanDuel has at +174.

Pick: Patrick Kane Over 0.5 Powerplay Point (+174)
