Sun vs. Lynx Preview
The league-leading Lynx open a home-and-home series Monday night against the WNBA’s last-place Sun in Minneapolis.
Minnesota returns home after a 2-1 trip that concluded with a 99-86 loss to New York on Friday. Despite the setback, the Lynx remain 6-3 at home and have yet to lose consecutive games this season.
Another victory would give head coach Cheryl Reeve her 380th regular-season win, tying the league record.
Rookie of the Year frontrunner Olivia Miles continues to lead Minnesota with 18.5 points and 5.7 assists per game, while Natasha Howard (17.2 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 1.8 SPG), Courtney Williams (15.9 PPG), and Kayla McBride (14.8 PPG) round out one of the league’s deepest starting lineups.
Miles and Howard were both selected to start the WNBA All-Star Game on July 25, with Miles becoming the lone rookie starter.
Miles is listed as questionable for this matchup with a right calf injury.
Meanwhile, five-time All-Star and last year’s MVP runner-up Napheesa Collier is inching closer to making her season debut after offseason surgery on both ankles. She returned to practice last week and has indicated she expects to be back soon, providing another potential boost for a Minnesota team viewed as one of the league’s championship favorites.
Connecticut hits the road for the first time in nearly a month following a 2-4 homestand.
The Sun recently dropped an 86-83 decision to Dallas after allowing the Wings to outscore them 31-21 in the fourth quarter. Paige Bueckers scored 11 of her 25 points during the final period to complete the comeback.
Connecticut has struggled away from home all season, posting just a 1-8 road record.
Offensive consistency has also been difficult to find.
Leila Lacan leads the Sun at 12.5 points per game, followed closely by veteran Brittney Griner (12.2 PPG) and rookie Aneesah Morrow (10.5 PPG, 9.4 RPG). Injuries and lineup changes have prevented Connecticut from establishing much continuity throughout the season.
Morrow will miss the game for personal reasons.

Sun vs. Lynx Prediction
Aneesah Morrow’s absence should create additional offensive opportunities for Brittney Griner.
Oddsmakers appear to be pricing Griner closer to her season average than her expanded role without one of Connecticut’s top frontcourt contributors.
Action PRO projects Griner for 12.15 points, creating a 6% edge against her posted total of 11.5.
Griner has scored at least 12 points in three of her last four games while averaging 13.3 points over that stretch. She’s also attempted 11.8 field goals and three free throws per game during the run, both above her season averages.
There is certainly some blowout risk with Minnesota favored by 13.5 points.
Still, if Connecticut is to remain competitive, Griner will almost certainly need to shoulder a significant portion of the offensive load.
That combination of increased opportunity and plus-money odds makes this one of the more appealing player props on the slate.
Best Bet: Brittney Griner Over 11.5 Points (+102, FanDuel)
