Sky vs. Fever Preview, Prediction

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese show down once again in a marquee Saturday season opener on ABC. Both teams made several offseason changes, including bringing in new head coaches.

The Fever brought in DeWanna Bonner, Natasha Howard and Sophie Cunningham, along with head coach Stephanie White. The Sky brought in Courtney Vandersloot and Ariel Atkins as the notable player acquisitions, and Tyler Marsh came over from Las Vegas to nab his first head coaching position.

Last season, the Fever were a better team than the Sky for the full year, but were several tiers above after the first few months. The Fever started 3-10, but recovered to win 17 of their final 27 games and make the postseason for the first time in a decade. The story was reversed for the Sky, who started 10-14, but stumbled down the stretch and lost 13 of their final 16 games. By the end of the season, the Fever were several tiers above the Sky.

In addition to that gap, I liked the Fever's offseason more than the Sky's. The additions all perfectly complement their Caitlin Clark, with a defensive-minded coach and two-way scorers on the court to surround her. For the Sky, the fit is decent, but they didn't level up nearly as much as the Fever.

As such, I'll be taking the points in what should be a fun game, but maybe not a close one.

Best Bet: Fever ATS
