Brewers vs. Rays Pick — World Series Game 3 ⚾

Pick
Jake Bauers Over 0.5 Hits
First Pitch
8 p.m. ET

PRO projects 0.94 hits for Bauers, who cracked our own Sean Zerillo's list for World Series MVP. He’s riding a seven-game hit streak and stays in a favorable spot.

Pick: Jake Bauers Over 0.5 Hits (-140, FanDuel)

Dream vs. Valkyries Pick — WNBA Finals Game 5 🏀

Pick
Angel Reese Under 2.5 Assists
Tip Off
8 p.m. ET

Angel Reese posted 2.8 assists per game in the regular season, but this championship environment presents a completely different scenario. Golden State boasts a premier interior defense and forces secondary creators to beat it from the perimeter.

The Dream shifted primary playmaking duties into the backcourt. Jordin Canada and Rhyne Howard control the ball on nearly every half-court set, while Reese operates primarily as an offensive rebounder and finisher down low. Her assist opportunities dwindle because she touches the ball deep in the paint — looking to score or draw fouls rather than facilitate.

Pick: Angel Reese Under 2.5 Assists (-132, FanDuel)

Cowboys vs. Eagles Pick — Monday Night Football 🏈

Pick
Under 44.5
Kickoff
8:15 p.m. ET

By John Lanfranca

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys offense have failed to live up to the extremely high expectations everyone had for them before the season started.

The Cowboys have scored more than 20 points in just three of their six games. Prescott’s numbers haven't been impressive either as he ranks 19th in yards per pass attempt.

The veteran quarterback has struggled against blitz-heavy schemes in recent weeks, averaging just 3.8 yards per attempt in Dallas' two losses to the Buccaneers and Packers.

The Eagles, meanwhile, are battered entering Monday Night Football and will be without Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, and Dontayvion Wicks. Philadelphia has generated just nine passing plays of 20 or more yards and nine rushing plays of 10 or more yards — both rank last in the NFL.

It's hard to see that improving with Tanner McKee under center playing without his top weapons — though Saquon Barkley is expected to return tonight.

Pick: Under 44.5 (-120, FanDuel)

Red Wings vs. Oilers 🏒

Pick
Detroit Red Wings Moneyline (+150)
Puck Drop
9:40 p.m. ET

The Edmonton Oilers are the hottest team in the NHL right now, and for very good reason. However, as they gear up for their duel with the Detroit Red Wings, they’re vulnerable.

Starting goaltender Devon Levi was just placed on IR, which puts the keys in Tristan Jarry’s hands.

Jarry has been horrendous since he arrived in Edmonton last season, playing to a bottom-three -6.2 GSAx and an .873 SV%. The fit just hasn’t been there, and Jarry’s confidence is at an all-time low. Every puck that goes his way leaves Oilers fans' hearts skipping a beat.

Now, Detroit isn’t perfect by any means. Once it figures out the Dylan Larkin situation, I think they’ll end up being in a better place.

Because even though the Wings are toeing the line of mediocrity, they have actually played exceptionally well on defense (19.96 xGA). Figures, when Todd McLellan is your coach.

McLellan also knows this Oilers team. It may not be the same exact team from when he coached them, but he knows the ins and outs of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl’s games.

Since taking over as the coach in Detroit, McLellan has a 2-1 record against Edmonton. Additionally, Edmonton has shown that it is more vulnerable at home than when it’s on the road, suffering its only three losses of the season in front of the home crowd.

That’s why I’m taking the Wings’ moneyline at +150 on DraftKings.

Pick: Detroit Red Wings Moneyline (+150, DraftKings)

Mavericks vs Heat Pick 🏀

Pick
Heat -8.5 (-105)
Tip Off
7:30 p.m. ET

This seems like an obvious bounce-back spot for Miami. This line popped at 7.5 in a few places earlier in the day, but DraftKings is currently listing it at 8.5.

While it is always frustrating to lose a point of value off the opener, the fact that it moved in our direction actually makes me more confident in the play because it confirms the sharp market agrees with my read.

My power ratings actually make this game Miami -9.5, so getting anything under that threshold is good enough to get me involved.

Let's be honest: the Heat currently have a ton of problems.

My entire overarching thesis during the preseason was that we simply didn't know if they were actually going to be good at everything, which naturally made the Miami fanbase pissy. They got very mad at the idea that they weren't immediately going to be the top offense and defense in the entire NBA based on one half of preseason basketball.

It turns out that preseason might not be the best indicator of actual regular-season success.

Right now, Miami looks slow, they look old, and their collective body language is terrible. Bam Adebayo has infuriated the fanbase with his lackluster play to open the year, and Andrew Wiggins is playing like a ghost haunting the sidelines.

It has been a terrible start for Miami. However, this Mavericks team is severely depleted. They are missing Cooper Flagg, and quite frankly, they look awful right now.

You simply cannot get me into a spot where I fade Miami here. This is the exact type of desperate, backs-against-the-wall situation where the Heat traditionally respond.

There were plenty of valid opportunities to fade Miami over the weekend, but against a compromised Dallas roster, this is the spot to back them. I expect the Heat to win this game by double digits.

Pick: Heat -8.5 (-105, FanDuel)
