Aggies 2026 Schedule & Betting Odds
Utah State Aggies Odds & Betting Guide — 2026-27 Season
Utah State was closer to a much better season in 2025 than the 6-7 final record suggests. Bronco Mendenhall's first year in Logan included one-score losses at UNLV (29-26) and at home to Boise State (25-24), the two teams that went on to play for the Mountain West title, before the Aggies closed the year with a loss to Washington State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Most college football power ratings still have Utah State near the bottom of its new conference, but the roster is closer to competitive than a losing record alone would indicate.
Quarterback Bryson Barnes, who accounted for nearly 3,500 total yards and 28 touchdowns as a dual-threat weapon, is gone, and Mendenhall has turned to McCae Hillstead, a former BYU backup who actually started four games for Utah State back in 2023. Offensive coordinator Robert Anae, reunited with Mendenhall after working together at BYU and Virginia, takes over play-calling and adds portal pieces at receiver, including Eli Wood (Virginia), Javon Robinson (Georgia State), and LJ Johnson (Texas State), around returning playmaker Anthony Garcia and featured back Javen Jacobs.
The bigger concern is defense. Utah State finished last in the Mountain West in total defense a year ago, allowing 5.9 yards per play and nearly 30 points per game, and the offensive line gave up 42 sacks. Defensive coordinator Nick Howell returns for a second season, and while five starters are back, including linemen Carson Tujague and Tyree Morris, linebacker Bronson Olevao, and safety Brevin Hamblin, a defense that struggled that badly returning largely the same personnel under the same coordinator is a real question mark heading into a tougher conference.
Utah State & the Pac-12
This is Utah State's first season in the rebuilt Pac-12, and it's the first time the conference has fielded a full slate and crowned a champion since 2023. The teams joining Utah State are Boise State, San Diego State, Fresno State, Texas State, and Colorado State, alongside holdovers Oregon State and Washington State, an eight-team league with genuinely no recent head-to-head history in this configuration.
That's worth keeping in mind when reading any Pac-12 futures market this season: there's no shared body of results to calibrate against, which makes early-season lines more of an estimate than a settled number. Utah State's own schedule doesn't make that easier to sort out, with true road games at Texas State, San Diego State, and Oregon State mixed in with a brutal non-conference stretch.
Utah State 2026 futures odds
Utah State's win total sits at 4.5, with some analysts leaning toward the over given Mendenhall's track record, even with a difficult non-conference slate against Washington, Utah, and Troy limiting the offense's margin for error. The Aggies are priced at +1400 to win the futures market for the Pac-12, the longest odds of the conference's eight teams.
If you'd rather trade Utah State's outlook than bet a fixed number on a brand-new conference race, Kalshi and Polymarket both list win-total and conference contracts that move with the news. You can find a Kalshi promo code and a Polymarket promo code on our promo pages, and our college football prediction market promos page tracks current offers.
The Utah State angle: a team that came within a combined four points of playing for last year's Mountain West title enters a conference with zero shared history, priced as the clear long shot. That gap between recent on-field competitiveness and market pricing is partly about roster changes at quarterback, but it's also partly the market having very little to calibrate the new Pac-12 against. Worth watching whether the number tightens once actual results start coming in.
Betting the Utah State moneyline
The moneyline is a bet on the winner, no margin involved. To illustrate: if Utah State were priced at +260 on the road at Washington and Washington at -320, converting to implied probability puts Utah State around 27.8% and Washington around 76.2%, summing to roughly 104%. That extra few points is the sportsbook's built-in margin, not a signal about which side is more likely to win.
Worth a direct correction here: a short price on a favorite isn't automatically "less value," and a long price on an underdog isn't automatically "more value." Value depends on whether the number matches the true odds of the outcome, not on how the price looks. Uneven juice tells you where money is landing relative to the book's line, not which side is correct.

Betting Utah State point spreads
The spread sets a margin rather than just a winner. Betting Utah State to cover as an underdog means the Aggies either win outright or lose by less than the number; betting them to cover as a favorite means they need to win by more than the number.
Utah State's two one-score losses to the eventual Mountain West finalists last year suggest a team that can hang with better competition even when it doesn't win outright. Track that against the ATS standings early, since that kind of competitiveness in close games is a real signal worth weighing against the raw win total.
Why the defense matters for Utah State spreads: a unit that gave up 5.9 yards per play last season and returns largely the same personnel under an unchanged coordinator hasn't necessarily fixed the problem. If the defense doesn't improve, Utah State's spreads could run wider than the offense's own quality would otherwise suggest, especially against a new conference full of unknowns. Check our projections as that picture develops.

Betting the Utah State total
The total, or over/under, is a bet on the combined score rather than the winner. Utah State's offense ranked among the better units in the Mountain West a year ago, but the defense's struggles mean totals involving the Aggies could run high regardless of how much Robert Anae's offense improves.
Check betting splits to see where public money is landing on Utah State totals, since the public may be slower than the market to price in just how significant last year's defensive numbers were. Our expert picks break down specific total calls each week as the new-look Pac-12 provides more data.
Utah State player props
Player props are limited in college football, and availability varies by state. With McCae Hillstead stepping into the starting role and a mostly new receiving corps around him, expect his passing props to carry more uncertainty than a typical returning-starter situation, since he has limited recent game experience at this level.
Where player props aren't available for a specific game or the market is too thin to trust, game-level markets like first-half winner or team total remain a way to get exposure to a Utah State game without needing a settled read on the new quarterback and receiving corps.
