Athletics Betting Preview: Great Matchup for Athletics' Bats
It’s an excellent matchup for the A’s offense tonight. Against Corbin, the Athletics are batting .320 lifetime with seven extra-base hits and only 13 strikeouts in 64 plate appearances.
The A’s also perform much better against left-handed pitching, which adds to their case against Corbin. Their offense has cooled off over the last several days, which makes this a great bounce-back opportunity.
I also like tonight's matchup for Sears. He's seen the Rangers a handful of times, and they're only batting .237 against him over 139 plate appearances.
Sears has a 5.13 ERA, but metrics suggest it should be 4.00. That isn’t overly impressive, but it’s still worth noting that he’s been the subject of bad fortune thus far in 2025.
The lefty should bounce back after his recent tough outing and allow his club to win the game late.
Texas Rangers Betting Preview: Back Corbin?
Corbin has been flying under the radar in 2025, as he's having a solid campaign. After last season, the 36-year-old veteran looked like he was headed for retirement given how poorly he had performed in previous campaigns.
Corbin's ERA is 3.91, which is lower than it should be. He does sport above-average chase, whiff and opposing barrel rates, but there are still some questions about whether this is sustainable in the long term.
His opposing hitters have a high average exit velocity against him, which suggests they're squaring up the baseball against him with no issues. Despite the low opposing barrel rate, I believe that moving forward, teams will have much better success scoring runs across the board.
Offensively, I don’t like the Texas matchup tonight. Sears isn’t an elite talent, but the Rangers’ struggles against him give me pause for concern.
I also don’t like backing teams against starting pitchers who have positive fortune coming their way, as it’s only a matter of time before they start performing like the metrics suggest they should.
Athletics vs Rangers Prediction, Betting Analysis
I still firmly believe in this A’s lineup, and the market suggests that they would be a wise investment tonight.
With only 8% of the tickets sold, there has been a lot of sharp money moving across the A’s moneyline, which has caused it to drop since opening.
It’s too good of a price to pass up tonight, and I'll take my chances with this loaded lineup that should start seeing better results moving forward.
They’ve crushed Corbin in the past, and I think they have an excellent opportunity to avoid the sweep tonight.
