Dodgers vs Cubs Picks, MLB Same-Game Parlay
Story: Expect Offense on Friday Night at Dodger Stadium
The Cubs head on the road to Los Angeles for a meeting with the Dodgers on Friday night in the first of a three-game series versus baseball’s top dog.
Right-hander Emmett Sheehan will take the mound for Los Angeles, while Chicago righty Jameson Tallion will be on the bump for the visiting Cubs.
Below, I will provide a “same-game-parlay” betting angle that you can take ahead of Friday night’s National League showdown at Dodger Stadium.
Dodgers Prop Pick: Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases
For the first leg of our SGP on Friday night, I will be taking a shot on Dodger superstar Shohei Ohtani to exceed his 1.5 total bases mark.
While Cubs’ right-hander Jameson Tallion is off to an impressive start in 2026- recording a sub-4.00 ERA over his first three outings of the year, the 24-year-old may have his hands full having to face the toughest lineup in all of baseball on the road.
Aside from his second start of the season, where the Cubs’ righty allowed three homers and six earned runs (ER) to the Pirates in six innings pitched (IP), Tallion has been largely reliable – having allowed just four runs across his other 12 frames in 2026.
Though I expect Tallion to maintain his solid form for the remainder of the year with Chicago’s righty having recorded an ERA sub 3.90 in four of his last five seasons, he faces an extremely difficult challenge on Friday night.
Given that Tallion has spent eight of his 10 seasons in the majors in the National League, he has a rather substantial sample size, having previously faced the majority of this Dodgers lineup on several occasions.
Jameson’s previous history against this LA lineup has been somewhat impressive, with the righty allowing just 21 hits across 79 at-bats for a .266 batting average.
That said, Tallion has had extreme difficulty in his 10 career at-bats versus Los Angeles’ DH Shohei Ohtani, the 4-time MVP generational talent.
Ohtani has smashed three homers and a double off the Cubs’ righty, having driven in three runs in the process.
Though Shohei is off to a relatively slow start at the plate for his standards, posting a .258 BA thus far along with five homers, he is beyond due to turn things around sooner rather than later.
Given the Dodgers’ superstar has previously found substantial success in 13 plate appearances (PA) versus Tallion, I feel more than comfortable backing baseball’s top player to exceed his 1.5 Total Base mark ahead of Friday night’s National League contest at Dodger Stadium.
Cubs Prop Pick: Pete Crow-Armstrong Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Dodgers’ starting-pitcher (SP) Emmett Sheehan is set to take the mound for the home team and will certainly be looking to bounce back from what has been a largely mediocre 2026 campaign thus far.
Across his first four outings of the season, Sheehan has been beyond dreadful, currently posting a 5.85 ERA to go along with a 1.4 WHIP.
Despite pitching a third season in the National League, Los Angeles’ right-hander has minimal previous experience facing this Cubs’ lineup- having only previously met Chicago 3B Alex Bregman, and OF Michael Conforto.
While the former Red Sox star ripped a double across his four career AB versus Sheehan, I will be looking to target another Cubs player to have a big night versus the Dodgers’ 6-foot-5 starter.
Upon selecting which Cub to target versus Sheehan in a player prop market, we will briefly analyze the weaknesses in the Dodgers’ right-hander’s pitching arsenal.
While right-handed hitters have certainly had success when previously matched up with the Dodgers’ righty, Sheehan has had far more difficulty facing left-handed hitters across his four seasons in the Big Leagues.
In 2026, the Dodgers’ SP has allowed just four hits in 27 AB versus righties- having allowed a .168 mark to opposing hitters in both batting average and slugging thus far.
However, Sheehan’s form has been atrocious when matched up with hitters on the other side of the plate. Lefties have smashed four homers and 10 RBIs versus the righty just a month into the season.
Left-handed hitters are batting .320 versus Sheehan, along with a .700 SLG, and magnificent 1.082 OPS.
That said, I will definitely be looking to target a Cubs’ lefty, specifically second-year OF Pete Crow-Armstrong, who's coming off a ridiculous 2025 debut season in the MLB.
Last season, PCA became just the second Cubs hitter in the history of the franchise to join the 30/30 club, with the lefty blasting 31 homers and swiping 35 bags as a rookie.
There is no doubt that Crow-Armstrong is off to a slower start in just his second year in MLB, but I think he matches up tremendously versus Sheehan on Friday night.
Sheehan’s favorite pitch in his arsenal is a high-velocity, four-seam fastball that has been very effective in the past, resulting in many “swing-and-miss” punch-outs.
Though the Dodgers’ righty appears to be having significant difficulty with his command to start his 2026 campaign- often leaving his fastball up in the zone, which has resulted in his becoming very susceptible to heavy contact.
Left-handed hitters who hit for power have also destroyed Sheehan thus far, with the right-hander also having command issues with his off-speed arsenal, in this case, his changeup.
Crow-Armstrong is a very dangerous matchup as a left-handed power-hitter who thrives against fastballs left in the zone.
Given the fact that Sheehan has allowed 20 hits and eight walks already to start the season, I expect many Cubs hitters to reach safely, which is why I will be looking to target Chicago’s lefty-slugger in the HRR (Hits + Runs + RBIs) market.
So, for the second leg of our SGP ahead of Friday night’s National League showdown, I will be backing Pete Crow-Armstrong to surpass his 1.5 mark in the HRR prop market.
- Shohei Ohtani Over 1.5 Total Bases
- Pete Crow-Armstrong Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
