A pair of hitters I like tonight are CJ Abrams and Seiya Suzuki. However, we will begin in Detroit where Kyle Bradish and the Orioles will be visiting the Tigers.
Let's dive into my MLB player props for Monday, July 27.
MLB Player Props Today
- Kyle Bradish Over 17.5 Outs Recorded (52%, Kalshi)
- CJ Abrams Over 1.5 Total Bases (51% Kalshi)
- Seiya Suzuki Over 0.5 Runs Batted In (+149, DraftKings)
Orioles vs Tigers Prop
Kyle Bradish Over 17.5 Outs Recorded
The Orioles and Tigers begin a key series in Detroit as both teams are within 3.5 games of the final AL Wildcard spot. The Orioles will send Bradish to the mound in the series opener and he will look to stay hot.
Since allowing five earned runs in consecutive outings in June, he has allowed three earned runs or fewer in four of his last six starts. In that span, he is 4-2 with a 2.03 ERA, 2.56 FIP, and 37 strikeouts in 40 innings. As a result, he has completed six innings in five of his last six starts and worked into the seventh in four of them.
Though the Tigers have been one of the AL's best teams since June 1st, they have been slow starters of late. They have scored two runs or fewer through six innings in eight of their past 12 games. If that trend continues, Bradish will have a quality start and record 18 outs tonight.
Pick: Kyle Bradish Over 17.5 Outs Recorded
Blue Jays vs Nationals Prop
CJ Abrams Over 1.5 Total Bases
Abrams certainly has a case for being the hottest hitter in the MLB right now. Since the All-Star break, he is hitting .487 with four doubles, seven home runs, 15 RBI, and a 1.640 OPS. He has done so with his name being floated around in trade discussions over the last few weeks.
He is now in the top seven in the MLB in home runs (27), RBI (82), and OPS (.940) for the season and is currently leading the MLB in RBI. He will look to stay hot tonight as Max Scherzer gets the start for the Blue Jays. Though Scherzer will be remembered as a Nationals legend, he is currently not in that legendary.
In between IL stints, Scherzer has allowed five earned runs in three of his last four starts. He has just an 8.7% strikeout rate against left-handed hitters and he has six home runs and a 1.067 OPS in 59 at-bats tonight. That is not ideal when having to face Abrams, James Wood, and the other Nationals left-handed hitters.
With a hit tonight, Abrams will extend his hitting streak to eight games. He has recorded two total bases in seven straight and eight of his past nine games. He has recorded an extra-base hit in seven of those games, so he may only need one hit tonight. He is +138 for an extra-base hit and +326 for a home run on DraftKings tonight.
Pick: CJ Abrams Over 1.5 Total Bases
Cubs vs Cardinals Prop
The Cubs have scored five runs or more in eight of their past 12 games. They took two of three from the Pirates in Pittsburgh and will remain on the road to take on another NL Central rival in St. Louis. One reason for their offensive output of late has been the hot bat of Seiya Suzuki.
The 31-year-old has six home runs, 19 RBI, and a .925 OPS in July. He has recorded a hit in 12 of his past 14 games. However, even when he is not base, he is still driving in runs. Suzuki has an RBI in each of his last six games, including the two in which he did have a hit.
Tonight, he will face Matthew Liberatore and he is just 1-for-14 against even though the platoons should suggest otherwise. Suzuki is hitting .321 with six home runs, 16 RBI, and a .987 OPS against left-handed pitchers while Liberatore has allowed 27 extra-base hits, 38 RBI, and a .804 OPS to right-handed batters.
Liberatore has allowed three earned runs or more in six of his last eight starts, one against the Cubs. Even Suzuki does not get a hit tonight, he can still knock in a run with a sac fly or RBI groundout.
Pick: Seiya Suzuki Over 0.5 Runs Batted In
