The San Francisco Giants host the Miami Marlins on June 25, 2025. First pitch from Oracle Park is scheduled for 9:45 p.m. ET; the game will be broadcast on FDSFL.
The Marlins took the series opener 4-2 on Tuesday night. The Giants will try to rebound by sending their ace, Logan Webb, to the mound, and Miami will counter Webb with Edward Cabrera, which means we have a solid pitching matchup on deck.

John Feltman’s Marlins vs Giants Preview
The Marlins have been swinging the bats much better in June, batting .268 as a team. Last night, they took an early lead and held on for the victory.
Edward Cabrera gets the ball tonight and has 63 strikeouts in 59 IP thus far. His walk rate is a bit high, but he’s done an excellent job generating swings and misses.
Cabrera has a five-pitch mix and an average velocity of around 97 MPH. His numbers aren’t as impressive because of his high walk rate, although he has always had the ceiling to be an elite pitcher.
Oracle Park is pitcher-friendly, which will help him, considering his ground ball rate is a mediocre 43%. However, I am uncertain if the Marlins' offense will be able to break through against Logan Webb.
Webb has pitched on another level this season. It’s a tough matchup for any offense, let alone a bottom-five unit.
I think Cabrera will succeed early, but it’s tough to envision the Marlins breaking through offensively with Webb in the game.
Logan Webb has found something in 2025, and there is no questioning what that is. He has thrown his sweeper more than he ever has in his career to date, and that has correlated to a ton more success on the mound.
He ranks above the 80th percentile amongst all MLB pitchers in chase, whiff, and strikeout rate. Opponents at the plate are having fits against him, and he’s especially been dominant at home.
Webb has allowed a .320 batting average to the current Marlins lineup in limited action, but that will not deter me from liking his matchup tonight. It’s a great opportunity to cash in on a Webb start, especially in a plus matchup.
For the Giants offensively, they also draw a tougher matchup against Cabrera. I think the market is spot on with the total sitting at 7, considering both starters are excellent at generating missed bats.
Marlins vs Giants Prediction, Betting Analysis
I love the F5 under 3.5 here. This is a great opportunity to take advantage of a strong pitching matchup, and I expect both offenses to struggle out of the gate.
Cabrera concerns me a tad with his control issues, but I still think the pitcher’s ballpark will help him here.
He also generates enough missed bats for me to believe the Giants will struggle to score early. I’m not overthinking this one, I’ll ride both of these strong arms to the window.
Pick: Under 3.5 F5 (-110, BetMGM)
