By Derek Carty
I'm fading Sonny Gray in his pitcher outs prop. Under 18.5 outs at -147 at DraftKings is the best line on the board. I like it down past -200. THE BAT X is only projecting about 16.5 outs here for Gray.
I'd imagine we're getting an 18.5 line on him because he's facing the Giants, but he's a guy who is not really allowed to go super deep into games very often, especially in terms of his pitch count. He's usually like an 85-to-90-pitch guy. Occasionally, he'll be able to go over 90, you know, maybe approach 100.
The odds that we're getting imply he'd need to have a 40% chance to break even. So we're being offered value right off the bat based on that, before you even consider the projection. And the projection says that, you know, he probably should not be going as deep as he has been anyway.
So despite facing the Giants, maybe he'll be really efficient. Maybe he'll do really well because of that. But they are getting a huge park upgrade going from Oracle to Fenway, and we're getting the good side of the key number here.
So I will take this one on Gray.
Pick: Sonny Gray Under 18.5 Outs (-246 or Better)
