The Los Angeles Angels host the Texas Rangers on July 30, 2025. First pitch from Angel Stadium is scheduled for 9:38 p.m. EDT; the game will be broadcast on RSN.
The Angels have won the first two games of their series against the Texas Rangers, and go for the sweep tonight. The Rangers had been red-hot since the All-Star Break, but have scuffled a bit in Anaheim.
The Rangers look to avoid the sweep tonight by sending out Nathan Eovaldi to the mound. Angels ace Jose Soriano will oppose him.

John Feltman’s Rangers vs Angels Preview
Nathan Eovaldi gets the ball tonight, and his start comes at a critical moment in the Rangers’ season. The Rangers need to stop the bleeding, so he will be tasked with delivering a strong performance.
Eovaldi enters tonight’s start with a ridiculous 1.50 ERA and 101 strikeouts in 88 IP. His xERA is 3.30, which is more than double his actual ERA, but that is still very strong.
Eovaldi has an impressive walk rate and has thrived by generating many chases, whiffs, and ground balls from opposing hitters (52.5% GB-Rate).
In his career against the current Angels hitters, he’s held them to a .235 batting average in 98 plate appearances. Although his 1.50 ERA is unsustainable, all of the other underlying metrics suggest Eovaldi’s performance thus far in 2025 is legitimate.
The Rangers' bats have stayed hot, but their pitching has disappointed them in the last couple of games. But tonight's matchup against Jose Soriano is nothing to sniff at.
They’ve struggled against Soriano, posting a .218 batting average in 55 plate appearances. In my eyes, Soriano has excellent stuff that doesn’t truly show in his results, so don’t be surprised if the Rangers' bats cool down tonight.
I like their chances with Eovaldi on the mound, but given their recent bullpen struggles, I can’t trust them to lay a money-line price.
Jose Soriano enters tonight with a 3.79 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. His Achilles' heel has been his inability to limit the free passes and allow a lot of hard contact.
What’s interesting about Soriano is that he features an electric sinker and four additional pitches. He throws his sinker 51% of the time, which bodes well in tonight’s matchup.
The Rangers are stronger offensively against right-handers, but they’ve struggled with pitchers primarily featuring sinkers. Soriano also has a ridiculous 69% ground ball rate, so it will be tough for the Rangers to elevate anything into the air early on.
Offensively, the Angels have their hands full against Eovaldi. I mentioned above how Eovaldi has thrived against these hitters in the past, and he’s currently pitching on another level.
I wouldn’t expect much from the Halos' offense in the early going tonight, especially after hanging some crooked numbers on the scoreboard the last few nights.
Rangers vs Angels Prediction, Betting Analysis
I love the F5 under in tonight’s matchup.
Soriano may get struck sometimes, but his insane ground-ball producing sinker will keep the Rangers' offense quiet in the early going. Eovaldi is due for some regression, but his metrics suggest he is still pitching at an elite level.
Both pitchers have done well against these lineups, and after a couple of higher-scoring contests, I feel this is a good opportunity to buy low on the under in the F5.
