The Betting Insider’s Twins vs Blue Jays Preview
The Twins will hand the ball to Joe Ryan, who’s been one of the few bright spots in an otherwise frustrating Minnesota season.
Ryan has been rock solid across 2025, carrying a 12–6 record with a 2.77 ERA and a sparkling 0.94 WHIP. His four-seam fastball remains the foundation of his arsenal, thrown over 50% of the time, and continues to grade out as one of the most effective heaters in baseball despite averaging just 94 mph. The deception and late life make it play up, and he’s paired it with a sweeper and splitter that have both generated above-average whiff rates.
Ryan has punched out nearly 30% of batters faced this season while keeping his walk rate at a measly 5%, and he’s kept the ball in the yard with a HR/9 of 1.07. Over his last 10 outings, he’s allowed two runs or fewer in 9 of them, showing consistent command and the ability to pitch deep into games.
Toronto has some dangerous right-handed bats, but Ryan’s track record against similar lineups this year has been excellent.
Opposing him is Max Scherzer, who looks healthy and very much in rhythm. He’s slated for his 12th start with a 3.60 ERA and 1.08 WHIP, and he seems to have settled in nicely after beginning the year on the injured list. He has ripped off 5 consecutive quality starts, holding a 2.25 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP over that stretch, and is doing so with vintage command.
He holds a walk% of just 6.3% and a zone% above 53%. Scherzer has held opponents to a .306 wOBA on the season, with an average exit velocity under 88 mph, proof that he’s limiting damaging contact even if the strikeout totals aren’t quite as dominant as his Cy Young peak.
Twins vs Blue Jays Prediction, Betting Analysis
Both lineups are capable of scoring in bunches, but tonight’s matchup feels like it belongs to the pitchers. Ryan has been carving through lineups with elite command and deception, while Scherzer’s veteran savvy and command have allowed him to keep games under control. With both hurlers working deep into games and minimizing hard contact, run-scoring opportunities should be limited.
With cold weather expected in Toronto, one of The Betting Insider’s best MLB systems is active for tonight’s game. Check it out below!
System 1) Cold Weather with reverse line movement (61% win rate, 18% ROI)
- Average temperature is below 65 degrees
- The under is receiving less than 33% of public bets
- The Over/Under change from open to close is between -0.5 and -1.5
- Since 2020
Cold weather suppresses offense. Pitchers get extra help from heavy air, while hitters lose distance. The public rarely accounts for this and piles onto the over, but sharps attack the under and push the line down. Backing the under in these conditions consistently puts you on the right side of physics and market movement. This system is on an incredible run, though it did let us down in its most recent spot, holding a record of 44-19-6 this season, which should be the 7th straight season of profit.
