Hornets vs Kings NBA Preview

One of the NBA's hottest teams will visit one of the league's worst teams in this interconference clash. Only the Spurs (24) and Celtics (23) have recorded more wins than the Hornets since January 1.

The Hornets have benefited from having their key offensive playmakers healthy. Still, they have really hung their hats on defense and rebounding in the back half of 2025-26.

Charlotte's top-10 scoring defense has given up 112. 3 points per game to opposing teams on the year, but they've boasted the league's second-best scoring defense since the new year began.

Opposing teams have scored just 105.7 points per game against the Hornets over their previous 33 games. Only the Celtics (103.7) can best that mark. Controlling the glass has been crucial to that success.

Buzz City ranks fourth in rebounds per game (46.3) while holding opponents to a league-low 39.5 boards per contest.

Moussa Diabate's high motor and consistent perimeter rebounding effort limit second-chance opportunities. That strength will come in handy against one of the league's worst rebounding teams.

The Kings have struggled down low without star center Domantas Sabonis, who is out for the season with a torn left meniscus after leading the league in rebounding in 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25. His knack for tracking down loose balls has been sorely missed for good reason.

Sacramento ranks 25th in rebounds per game (42.0). While it is a middling offensive rebounding team (11.3 per game), it is largely one of the league's worst offensive teams because of its inability to convert from long range.

The Kings are making a league-low 33.5% of their triples despite being the only team putting up fewer than 30.0 attempts from beyond the arc per game.

Things could get out of hand early if the NBA's second-lowest scoring offense (110.7 points per game) has a cold shooting night.

Coby White (calf) is listed as day-to-day for Charlotte. Keegan Murray (ankle) is out for Sacramento, while Malik Monk (ankle) is listed as day-to-day.

Hornets vs Kings Predictions, Betting Analysis

Neither team is exceptional on offense, and both teams will enter this matchup on the second leg of back-to-backs. That could cause the scoring to lag.

Charlotte has brought it defensively every night lately, though. The under is 10-3 in Hornets back-to-backs this season.

I expect the favorites to bring their usual effort and intensity to generate stops early and often.

The pace is likely to slow down significantly late in the game if Charlotte plays like a 12.5-point favorite.

Pick: Under 224.5 Points (-110)
