Cavaliers vs Hawks NBA Preview
We’re heading back to State Farm Arena for a critical rematch between the Cavaliers and the Hawks tonight.
This is a matchup with huge Eastern Conference seeding implications; the Hawks are currently neck-and-neck with the Raptors for fifth place, while the Cavaliers are looking to stabilize their position in fourth.
We just saw these two teams battle it out two days ago in Cleveland — a hard-fought 122-116 win for the Cavaliers — and tonight’s sequel carries the distinct energy of a playoff preview.
The big story for the Cavs tonight is the injury report. With Donovan Mitchell (ankle) and Jarrett Allen (injury management) both listed as out, Cleveland is going to look significantly different.
While James Harden and Evan Mobley will carry the load, the absence of Cleveland’s primary rim protector and elite perimeter stopper creates a much softer path for Atlanta’s wings to navigate.
That brings me to the player we are targeting tonight: Dyson Daniels. In the matchup against Cleveland on Wednesday, Daniels was a clear bright spot for Atlanta, finishing with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists.
He logged 33 minutes in that game and displayed the kind of aggression we want to see from a young playmaker who has clearly found his rhythm in the closing weeks of the season.
Cavaliers vs Hawks Predictions, Betting Analysis
The market has set Daniels' points total at 11.5 tonight, which we believe is a significant undervaluation of his current floor. If you look at his recent track record, Daniels has been remarkably consistent, scoring 12 or more points in six of his last nine games.
What’s even more encouraging are the misses — two of the three times he fell under this number in that stretch, he finished with exactly 11 points.
With Mitchell and Allen out, the Cavaliers lose a significant amount of defensive connectivity. Daniels is an opportunistic scorer who thrives on getting to the rim and knocking down open looks created by the Hawks' playmakers.
Our Action PRO models project Daniels to finish with 13.2 points tonight, giving us nearly a two-point cushion over the current market total.
Pick: Dyson Daniels Over 11.5 Points (-125)
