Nuggets vs Kings NBA Preview
Last Monday, the Nuggets defeated the Kings 130-124 in Denver.
Surprisingly, Nikola Jokic did not have a triple-double, but he still led the way with 34 points, seven rebounds, and 14 assists.
They have now won the last six meetings between them and the Kings, and covered in four of them, though Sacramento covered as 11.5-point underdogs last week.
Denver is off to a 7-2 start and currently holds the third spot in the Western Conference.
It is even more impressive when you consider that they are incorporating several new faces, as well reincorporating a familiar face in Bruce Brown.
However, one new addition that has gotten off to a slow start is Cam Johnson. The 29-year old is averaging just eight points per game, shooting 38% from the field, and 23% from 3-point range.
Meanwhile, the Kings are off to a 3-7 start. They have given up at least 130 points in four of their past five games.
While you would never really classify the Kings as a strong defensive team, they have been dreadful on the defensive end this season. They rank 27th in defensive efficiency and 28th in scoring defense.
For the Kings, Keegan Murray has yet to play this season after signing his rookie scale extension. They also may not have Domantas Sabonis, as he is questionable with a left ribcage contusion and has missed two of the team's last three games.
Sabonis is averaging 15.3 points, 14 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game this season.
If Sabonis cannot go, that will open up rebounding and assists opportunities for Russell Westbrook.
Last week, Westbrook recorded the 204th triple-double of his career when Sabonis did not play against the Warriors and nearly missed another against the Thunder. The 36-year-old is averaging 15 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game this season.
Nuggets vs Kings Prediction, Betting Analysis
Russell Westbrook may not be the MVP-caliber player that he was earlier in his career. However, he still provides flashes from time to time, particularly when he is motivated.
The Nuggets provide that motivation for him because he no longer felt wanted after his lone season in Denver.
While the Nuggets secured the victory in the teams' meeting last week, Westbrook had 26 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists.
He is coming off a dud against Minnesota, but he has scored at least 12 points in seven of his last eight games. He also has cleared over 10.5 rebounds and assists in six of those games.
With that in mind, I will be backing Westbrook for over 23.5 PRA.
He has cleared that line in six of his last eight games while averaging 30.5 per game.
Westbrook cleared the line with Sabonis in against Denver, but could end up a bargain if he gets ruled out.
I would also consider sprinkling on him for a double-double at +600.
Jokic is always in play for a triple-double and he is -110 tonight.
He has recorded a triple-double in six of his last 10 games and four of his last six against the Kings.
I will back the Nuggets for the victory to wrap up the parlay.
Pick: Russell Westbrook Over 23.5 Points, Rebounds, and Assists (-110, Fanatics)
