Miami Heat Betting Preview

The Heat, who started the season 0-4, seemed to get their feet under them, reeling off back-to-back wins heading into an early-season West Coast road trip. They now take on the red-hot Lakers, who stand atop the Western Conference.

Miami's been off since a 146-125 NBA Cup win over the Pacers, which followed their first win of the season in Atlanta just days prior.

Los Angeles Lakers Betting Preview

The Lakers took care of the Toronto Raptors, 131-125 on Sunday night, improving to 5-2.

In their only other back-to-back this season, Luka Doncic sat, which will be important to monitor for the Lakers heading into this game against the Heat. Granted — that was against the Clippers, and the Lakers handled business, winning 103-87.

On the injury report, Tim Hardaway Jr. (personal) is questionable.

Zaire Williams (foot) and Adou Thiero (knee) sat out Sunday's win over Toronto.

Heat vs Lakers Pick, Betting Analysis

The Heat's need for shooting is the onus put on their only shooters to… well… shoot.

Klay Thompson, by far, gets up the most 3-point volume on the team, but in the rotation, Bobby Portis is third just behind Tim Hardaway Jr. in attempts per 100 possessions.

Portis is an efficient 12-of-28 with two or more makes in 4-of-6 with four or more attempts in five straight games. As much as he's needed to bang in the post and rebound, his stretchability is just as important to how the Heat generate offense with this second unit in staggered lineups.

Los Angeles allows 39.3 3-point attempts per 100 possessions, the ninth-most in the NBA, and teams are hitting 36.7% against them, the ninth-highest percentage in the league.

Pick: Bobby Portis 2+ Three-Pointers Made (-110)
