NBA Injury News
6:30 p.m. Update: The Knicks announced that Noel is officially available to play on Wednesday despite dealing with a sprained ankle. Knick head coach Tom Thibodeau also confirmed that Elfrid Payton will remain a starter instead of inserting Derrick Rose into the starting lineup.
Nerlens Noel suffered a sprained right ankle late during the Game 1 loss on Sunday, and he is currently questionable heading into Game 2 on Wednesday.
New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau has stated Noel should be fine for Wednesday on a few instances, and Thibodeau added Noel was feeling better on Tuesday.
Noel has been sharing center minutes with Taj Gibson during the absence of Mitchell Robinson who has been out with a foot injury. The Knicks don't have many center options available if Noel can't go — Norvel Pelle is the only other healthy big on the roster.
Donovan Mitchell is expected to play for the Utah Jazz in Game 2 after he was a late scratch in Game 1 of their series with the Memphis Grizzlies. The reason behind Mitchell sitting out the series opener was reportedly a disagreement between his personal training staff and the team training staff on his availability.
