Donovan Clingan and the Trail Blazers draw a matchup against Brooklyn tonight in what is a back-to-back spot for Portland, and the key thing here is that Clingan is averaging 16 points, 15.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists on no rest this year.
That’s way up from his full-season numbers.
It could just be noise, or it could be the fact that he’s a young player and it doesn’t really matter whether he has fresh legs.
However, I think the biggest factor is that Robert Williams usually sits those games. That means Clingan gets a couple more minutes, gets to run center at his own speed and pace, and gets his normal rotations.
So, I’m going to be looking for him to beat up on a really depleted Nets frontcourt.
The Nets have been tanking hard lately.
We will see Nic Claxton back for this game, but their best rebounder tonight is Danny Wolf by our projections. The Nets simply aren't a team that does very well on the glass.
