Sacramento Kings Betting Preview

Although the Kings (0-5) are still searching for their first win, you can't say their games have lacked entertainment value.

When a team is woeful defensively, like the Kings, you can be almost certain they'll be involved in some high-scoring games.

With Sacramento ranking 28th in defensive efficiency, allowing 121.5 points per 100 possessions, it's no surprise that over bettors are off to a 4-1 start when backing the team.

The Kings entered the season with the lowest projected win total of 20.5, and they're already living up to their ignominy.

As a result, if you're a player on this Kings team, you're well aware of the challenges ahead, and you also know no cavalry is coming to save you.

We could see a scenario where some Kings players are simply looking after themselves, padding their stats perhaps to get a move away from this disastrous organization.

Rather than trying to find situational spots to back the Kings, player props might provide the best avenue to profit from them.

Memphis Grizzlies Betting Preview

On the other side of the spectrum are the Grizzlies, who, at 5-0, are looking to keep their perfect streak alive. However, context matters, as Memphis has played the sixth-softest schedule per TeamRankings, with three victories against the Kings and Jazz, who are a combined 1-9 on the year.

It's worth noting that Memphis did enter the campaign with the seventh-lowest win total at 30.5.

Interestingly, if you solely look at the Grizzlies' Net Rating (+11.9), you'll find they rank second. But when we use the Dunks & Threes adjusted net rating, Memphis slots in at 13th with a +1.5 value.

Therefore, it wouldn't be a huge shock to see some regression from the Grizzlies at some point, even though we can probably expect more of the same against the lowly Kings.

The key question here is whether we can trust this Grizzlies team at such a heavy price, laying close to double digits at -9.5.

With these teams meeting just six days ago, recency and familiarity could work against Memphis in this spot.

Kings vs Grizzlies Pick, Betting Analysis

Even though this game opened with Memphis as an 11-point favorite, my model set the number at -10.77, which offered little value given the odds.

Now, with the line shifting in my direction to -9.5, I'd be taking a worse number to back the Kings.

In my opening, I laid the groundwork for how we can approach this Kings team, and Zach LaVine might provide us with our best opportunity.

LaVine's scoring prop is available at 21.5, a number he's cleared in four of five games already this season.

He's coming off a season-low 21-point performance in his last game while averaging 26 points so far this season. When the teams last met, LaVine led all scorers with 37 points on 52% shooting.

Moreover, if we look at the head-to-head numbers dating back to the 2024-25 season, LaVine is averaging 25 points while clearing the 21.5-point mark in five of the seven meetings.

The points have to come from somewhere for the Kings, and I expect Sacramento to keep leaning on LaVine's shooting efficiency as rookie Darius Acuff Jr. continues to acclimate to the league.

This is a great spot to buy low on LaVine after he just missed clearing the line in his last outing.

With the onus now on the Kings to end this losing streak, it wouldn't surprise me if they stick with their starters a bit longer, even if the game becomes a bit lopsided.

Pick: Zach LaVine Over 21.5 Points (-114, DraftKings)
