Raptors vs Pacers NBA Preview
The Raptors will be without Jakob Poeltl and RJ Barrett tonight. Meanwhile, Sandro Mamukelashvili is questionable as well.
The status of those players matter because it could open up the floor quite a bit, especially if it pushes both teams toward smaller lineups.
Brandon Ingram is also coming off a couple of down games in a row.
He scored 17 points in the last game against Philadelphia, and before that just six points in limited action (11 minutes) against Charlotte, followed by 19 points in 35 minutes against Atlanta on January 5.
Ingram missed a bit of time in between, but this looks like a reasonable bounce-back spot rather than a true downturn in form.
Raptors vs Pacers Prediction, Betting Analysis
The big thing here is what Ingram has done historically against the Pacers.
When you look back over the past couple of seasons, he’s really smoked them. Over his last five games against the Pacers, he’s averaging 27 points per game. Earlier this season, he scored 26 against them, and even in another meeting where he didn’t fully explode, he still finished with 19.
Matchup-wise, this also sets up well. Indiana generally plays things pretty straight up defensively. The Pacers want to keep you off the three-point line as much as possible, and they’re willing to give up mid-range shots and looks at the rim.
That’s exactly what Brandon Ingram wants to do. His shot profile lines up perfectly with what the Pacers allow.
When you factor in the potential usage bump, the added spacing without Barrett and Poeltl, and how well this matchup fits Ingram’s game, Over 23.5 points feels a little bit low.
This looks like a strong spot for Ingram to get back over this number.
Pick: Brandon Ingram Over 23.5 Points (-112)
