Chris Beard’s first game back in Lubbock was always going to be intriguing.
Beard revitalized the Texas Tech basketball program and then departed for big brother.
But it feels like the stakes are even higher with both teams ranked inside the top 25.
The No. 23 Texas Longhorns travel to Lubbock to take on the No. 14 Texas Tech Red Raiders.
The Red Raiders have picked up where Beard left off under new head coach Mark Adams. Adams has his team playing team in the country. They are 16-5 overall and 5-3 in the Big 12. Their defense ranks fourth in the nation on KenPom in Defensive Efficiency.
The Longhorns, on the other hand, have had some growing pains under Beard, but they’ve rattled off three-straight wins and are just now beginning to find their groove. They’re also 16-5 and 5-3 in conference.
Records don’t tell the entire story between these two teams. Texas is just 9-12 against the spread while Texas Tech is 14-7.
It’s a highly-anticipated game and the biggest one of the night. Action Network has tracked sharp action and big money coming in on one side.
