It. Is. Here.

Finally!

Not the start of the college football season — that’s still five days away. And certainly not the end of conference realignment (sorry, that will continue until the Big Ten and SEC have at least 20 schools each).

What has finally arrived is the first of my weekly bowl projections for Action Network.

To recap: in my preseason bowl projections last year, I correctly picked nine teams in their correct bowl and nailed two bowl matchups (a Georgia-Ohio State semifinal and East Carolina vs. Coastal Carolina).

Although I'm again projecting a Georgia-Ohio State semifinal matchup among my 82 bowl teams, there are some changes in this year’s bowl lineup.

The College Football Playoff semifinals will take place Jan. 1, 2024, at the Rose and Sugar Bowls. The highest-ranked Group of Five champion, if not in the playoff, will play in either the Peach or Fiesta Bowl.

There are also new pairings for the Las Vegas (Big Ten vs. Pac-12), Music City (SEC vs. Big Ten), Duke’s Mayo (SEC vs. ACC) and Independence (Big 12 vs. Pac-12) Bowls.

So, let’s embark on our 16-week journey of bowl projections leading up to the final season of the four-team College Football Playoff.

Each projection includes the projected point spread for each bowl based on Action Network senior writer Collin Wilson’s updated college football betting power ratings.
