Matthew Sluka made a statement in the name of NIL integrity late on Tuesday night.
The UNLV quarterback announced he would be sitting out the rest of the season with plans to enter the transfer portal citing unfulfilled financial commitments.
"I committed to UNLV based on certain representations that were made to me, which were not upheld after I enrolled," Sluka wrote in a statement on his X account. "Despite discussions, it became clear that these commitments would not be fulfilled in the future. I wish my teammates the best of luck this season and hope for the continued success of the program."

The Rebels are 3-0 and ranked as the No. 23 team in the college football Coaches Poll. They're the only Group of Five team that's ranked in the Coaches Poll. Boise State is the only Group of Five team ranked in the AP Poll.
That means UNLV has a legitimate shot at the College Football Playoff.
UNLV opened as a three-point favorite at home against Fresno State this weekend. That line got up to UNLV -3.5 before the Sluka news.
After the Sluka news, the number took a tumble. It got to UNLV +1 before moving back in UNLV's direction. UNLV is currently a one-point favorite against Fresno State.
Sluka has thrown for 318 yards and six touchdowns through three games this season while completing 43.8% of his passes. He's been an asset on the ground, however, where he's run for 253 yards and a touchdown.
