With both teams believing they had a claim to a College Football Playoff berth, the Georgia Bulldogs took on the Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl on Saturday.

Florida State entered without many of its top players, meaning that Georgia was a whopping favorite in Saturday's Orange Bowl. Yet apparently, oddsmakers couldn't have set the Georgia vs Florida State spread high enough.

What were the Georgia vs Florida State odds for the Orange Bowl? Georgia closed as 23.5-point favorites against Florida State in the Orange Bowl, with the Bulldogs -2500 on the moneyline to win outright. That means Georgia covered the closing spread by 36 points.

Georgia so thoroughly trounced Florida State that the Bulldogs punter didn't even enter the game until there were 7 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. At that point, he was the last player on the Georgia roster to enter the game.

Georgia took a 42-3 lead into halftime of Saturday's Orange Bowl, with some books having Georgia as big as 52.5-point favorites on the live spread at half. They should have set the line even higher, it would seem.

For what it's worth, our college football betting expert's pick for the Orange Bowl was on Georgia to cover, although he did caution playing the line beyond 22.5.
